The Tennessee Central Railway Museum is a volunteer, non-profit organization. Our mission is to preserve, restore, interpret, and operate historic railroad equipment to educate our guests about America's railroads. We have a growing collection of historic equipment, but TCRM is much more than a static museum. Our specialty is operating historic trains, providing a unique opportunity to ride a 1950

's vintage train through beautiful Middle Tennessee. Since the 1989, TCRM has been running passenger excursions from Nashville to points east. Current destinations include Lebanon, Watertown, Cookeville, and Monterey, Tennessee. Trains typically consist of air-conditioned coaches with refreshments and souvenirs available onboard. Many trains also include deluxe accommodations in special cars available at extra cost. TCRM has preserved a collection of passenger cars, cabooses, freight cars, and locomotives. Our volunteers are at work on most Saturdays restoring and maintaining this equipment. The museum began as an extension of the local division of the National Model Railroad Association, the Cumberland Division SER-NMRA. Since Cumberland Division SER-NMRA Inc., an IRS 501(c)(3) Federal income tax-exempt organization, does business as Tennessee Central Railway Museum, donations to the Museum are tax-deductible. The Museum headquarters is located in the former Tennessee Central Railway Master Mechanic's office at 220 Willow Street near downtown Nashville. The building houses offices, a library, and a collection of railroad material, including the largest collection of Tennessee Central Railway artifacts to be found anywhere. Monthly membership meetings are held at this facility.

We are excited to share that the Tennessee Central Railway Museum has recently acquired two original pieces of art from the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad. These artworks, known as 'Kachina,' were originally part of sets of four and adorned the coaches in the museum's 47 # # series. We are actively searching for the remaining two 'Kachinas' to complete a full set, after which we will work on recreations for the rest of our Santa Fe coaches.

The history behind these acquisitions is fascinating. The 45 coaches in the 47 # # series were initially built in 1953 for the ATSF's El Capitan train. However, they only served for three years before being replaced by the ATSF's new Bi-Level cars. Subsequently, these coaches were utilized in general pool service across ATSF's network until they were sold to Amtrak in 1972.

Our journey with these coaches began in 1994 when we acquired our first 47 # # car, and since then, we have expanded our collection to include six of these coaches, with five still in their original configuration. These coaches have become the backbone of our museum's fleet, showcasing a significant era in railway history.

We are dedicated to preserving and celebrating the heritage of these remarkable artifacts, and we look forward to sharing more updates as we continue to grow and enhance our collection.
