Meet USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park Crewmember and Battleship Educator, Carrie Summers! Carrie has been aboard for 4 years and graduated from Troy University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education.

Carrie enjoys being immersed in history every day, educating the public about the relevance of WWII, and learning from our Veterans and volunteers on board.

It was an absolute honor to host a special commemoration ceremony marking the 25th Anniversary of 9/11 presented by Tunnel to Towers Foundation on Memorial Day 2026.

As we gathered to remember the lives lost, honor the courage of our service members and first responders, and reflect on the strength of our nation, we were reminded why our mission matters so deeply.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us, amidst the weather, in ensuring their legacy will never be forgotten.

Now Hear This! A hidden gem of USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park that only those in the air would be able to see contains Oak trees planted to form the shape of Alabama. Nestled between these trees are blue side walks to symbolize the major rivers that run through our beautiful state.

Dedicated to the park in 2004 by Bellsouth Pioneers, each tree was planted with soil from all 67 counties to support and honor all past, present, and future veterans.

When you sponsor a poppy, you'll receive a beautiful handmade stoneware poppy in honor of your special loved one who served in the military and no longer living, then we will provide you with a white satin ribbon with their name embossed and a listing on the Alabama Poppy Project website.
