Now Hear This! USS ALABAMA's Action Report of Engagements with Enemy Planes off Saipan, Marianas Islands from June 12-15, 1944 reveals that the Mighty-A, alongside other ships part of Task Force 58, supported efforts in destroying three Japanese aircrafts during the operation.

This diary (photo #2), donated by the family of Crewman Seaman 1st Class (S1c, V6) Stanley Sondej, allows visitors to experience history through the eyes of a sailor who also recorded his own recollection of these events in his daily log.

The A-4C Skyhawk was a key player during the Vietnam War known for its speed, agility, and precision. Called the “Tinker Toy” because of its diminutive size, Skyhawks logged more combat missions than any other naval aircraft, including notable strikes against bridges and power plants in North Vietnam.

From 1974 to 1986, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels took to the skies in this aircraft, showcasing its power and maneuverability in unforgettable airshows.
