Plum Road Tea Dream's grief sanctuary has a new wing. Jira Duguid's mausoleum joins six other spaces built by an avatar called S., inside a game whose only verbs are walking, sitting and listening.

Inside Plum Road Tea Dream, Samuel Baidoo's seven-sanctuary autobiographical adventure.

Zach Cregger says he set out to write a game as a movie, and mimicked Resident Evil 4's healing items exactly. So the save-point typewriters turn up on screen as props, doing work the film has no way to actually run.

Inside the trailer comments for Zach Cregger's Resident Evil, where set dressing gets read as survival-horror grammar.

In Boring Car Stories, a paper notebook is the entire HUD. The surprise is what players did with that: they started asking for a physical map with no you-are-here marker, and road signs instead of a minimap. More analog friction, not less.

Boring Car Stories: Maghrebine swaps screens for paper, and its audience is debating every line of it.

Wendi Yan built a puzzle game out of Daoist inner alchemy. You move through a science-fiction landscape as a bundle of qi, aligning your own breath with the planet's carbon cycle: meditation as mechanic, scripture as technology.

Inside The Inner Carbon Classic, Wendi Yan's Daoist carbon-cycle puzzle game.

A motion-capture suit that loses the plot is usually a bug. In Letta Shtohryn's live XR performance it's the whole piece: it opens in a 5,000-year-old Maltese temple and ends with the avatar slipping loose from the body driving it.

Inside Chuly? Chuly, Letta Shtohryn's Prix Ars Electronica-honored live XR performance.

Step Right Up! is Wonderville's new arcade cabinet, a Zoltar fortune-telling machine crossed with vector graphics. The game, the cabinet, the UI, the voice, the animatronic head and a custom trackball each get their own credit.

Vector graphics, an animatronic barker and a custom trackball, playable now in Bushwick.

Jérémy Griffaud spent a month at Akiyoshidai International Art Village and came out with a watercolor game built on Shinto animism, Gion Matsuri, and an ecosystem the player is in relation with rather than in charge of.

Started at Japan's Akiyoshidai International Art Village, inspired by Gion Matsuri and Shinto animism.

The response to an internet run by bots turns out to be a room. Paizley Lee filled the second LA night of DEAD INTERNET THEORY with a rainbow of salvaged iMac G3s, a Y2K LAN party where the hardware does what the feed no longer can.

Inside Paizley Lee's Y2K LAN night at ark/8 in Los Angeles — retro PCs, cyberdecks and an installation she destroyed her life to acquire.

Kara Güt put two performers at a desk with controllers and had them walk their characters toward each other across Red Dead Online, live, at a Dutch film festival. The weather and the respawns were nobody's to direct.

Kara Güt's second Desert Nexus installment turned a Nijmegen film festival theater into a venue for Rockstar's multiplayer server.
