Show Title: Stitching Multiverse

Exhibiting unil October 21.

About:

Marianna, a contemporary fiber artist hailing from Southern California, seamlessly blends her background in graphic design with a lifelong passion for art and fashion.

Transitioning from the entertainment industry to the world of textiles, Marianna specializes in needle-felting techniques on natural linen and cashmere, crafting wearable art pieces that embody both timeless elegance and cutting-edge fashion.

Her creations transcend traditional boundaries, evolving into multi-dimensional sculptures that grace ceilings, walls, and floors alike. By incorporating unconventional materials like wire, Marianna produces abstract sculptures that honor feminine traditions and the often-overlooked narratives of historical art.

Beyond aesthetics, Marianna advocates for environmental justice and feminism, utilizing her platform to challenge wasteful consumption and environmental degradation. Her diverse collection showcases a fusion of felting, weaving, and crochet, bringing vibrancy and modern sensibility to both commercial spaces and private residences, infusing sophistication and intrigue into any environment.

About BLKLit:
In Another Country, through the voice of the preacher sermonizing over the dead Rufus, a su***de victim, James Baldwin spoke profoundly:

And I tell you something else, don’t none of you forget it: I know a lot of people done took their own lives and they’re walking up and down the streets today and some of them is preaching the gospel and some is sitting in the seats of the mighty. Now, you remember that. If the world wasn’t so full of dead folks maybe those of us that’s trying to live wouldn’t have to suffer so bad.

Exhibition Dates: September 2–24

About

I began painting nearly two decades ago, deeply inspired by the brush paintings I encountered at Nijo Castle in Japan. That moment awakened something in me, and I began studying traditional brush painting with masters. When my last teacher, then 89, could no longer teach, I continued my journey through classes and workshops at Santa Monica College and the Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. Though I never pursued a formal art degree—my full-time work as a psychiatrist required my full devotion—my training has been lifelong, heartfelt, and rooted in reverence for the creative process.

Join us at The Artists Gallery for our September exhibitions featuring Lee Cooper, Emil Rutenberg, Joe Doherty, The Collymore Oil Painters Atelier, Kathryn Pitt, Amit Cohen, Noah Hass-Cohen, and BLKLit + TAG Artists Present LIGHT.
