There are artists who document the world as it is, and there are artists who imagine the world as it might become. HIBISCUS TV occupies a more elusive space—revealing the world we have quietly constructed for ourselves. Their work exposes the contradictions we have learned to accept: abundance beside scarcity, beauty beside destruction, connection beside profound isolation. Rather than condemning these conditions, Amy Kaps and Kaye Freeman invite us to recognize them with wit, curiosity, and startling honesty.
In this exhibition, Origins of Matter invites us to consider not only the physical world we have created, but the invisible beliefs from which it emerged. HIBISCUS TV doesn’t expose secrets; they make the familiar impossible to ignore.
The collaborative practice of Amy Kaps and Kaye Freeman, known as HIBISCUS TV, unfolds at the intersection of performance, painting, sculpture, film, photography, and installation. Their work occupies a place where humor becomes philosophy and absurdity becomes revelation. Here, laughter is never an escape from reality—it is the doorway through which reality becomes visible.
