WEARABLE ART 2026
April 2 — May 24 at the Los Angeles Makery

Where fashion dissolves into sculpture, performance, fantasy, and radical self-expression.

Curated by A. Laura Brody + Lisa Tomczeszyn, Wearable Art 2026 transforms the body into a moving canvas — featuring one-of-a-kind works that challenge the boundaries between art, design, craft, and identity.

From hand-built experimental garments to pieces created with recycled materials, metal, plastics, and unexpected textures, this exhibition celebrates artists who reject mass production in favor of individuality, innovation, and fearless imagination.

These aren’t just clothes.
They’re statements.
They move. They provoke. They perform.

✨ Closing Event + Artist Talk

LOS ANGELES MAKERY · CALL FOR ART

THE PHOTO SHOW

We’re looking for photography that pushes beyond the standard print. This is a call for process-driven, experimental, and alternative photography—work where light, chemistry, and material are part of the image itself.

Think:
Cyanotype · Lumen prints · Anthotypes · Gum bichromate · Wet plate collodion · Chemigrams · Photograms · Hand-coated emulsions · Film soup · Emulsion lifts · Image transfers · Photo etching · Solargraphy · Light-based and photometric experiments

No archival pigment prints. No straight digital prints.

We want work that is touched, altered, exposed, stained, embedded—where the process is visible and essential. Work that embraces unpredictability, transformation, and material presence.

All approaches welcome, including sculptural, installation-based, or time-based photographic work.

🗓 Exhibition Dates: August 6–30, 2026
⏰ Submission Deadline: July 12, 2026
đź’µ Application Fee: $25
🧾 Gallery Commission: 30%

Submit images or documentation of your work, a brief artist statement, dimensions + medium, and any technical requirements.

At the Los Angeles Makery, we champion experimentation. Push the medium. Break it open. Show us what photography can become.

LOS ANGELES MAKERY · CALL FOR ART

WORD

From parchment to skywriting, from page to phone—WORD explores the life of letters and the world of language in all its forms.

We’re inviting artists, writers, and performers to engage with the written, typed, painted, and spoken word. Think calligraphy to graffiti, repetition to poetry, bold statements to quiet whispers. Words that charm, provoke, mesmerize, or disrupt.

All mediums welcome:
Visual art · Sculpture · Installation · Textile · Printmaking · Video · Audio · Digital · Performance · Literary work

🗓 Exhibition Dates: August 6–30, 2026
⏰ Submission Deadline: July 12, 2026
đź’µ Application Fee: $25
🧾 Gallery Commission: 30%

Submit images or documentation of your work, a brief artist statement, dimensions + medium, and any technical requirements.
Performance proposals should include a description and preferred timing.
Literary works are encouraged in full.

At the Los Angeles Makery, we champion risk. There’s no wrong interpretation—only the one you haven’t made yet.

Apply now. Let your words speak.

PLAYTIME 🎯🏆

Call for Art is NOW OPEN!

We’re inviting artists of all disciplines to submit work for Playtime — a high-energy, interactive exhibition centered around games, movement, and the thrill of impact. Think mini golf, kinetic moments, objects in motion, and the joy (or chaos) of play.

🗓 Exhibition Dates: July 9–26, 2026
đź“© Submission Deadline: June 7, 2026

Whether it’s conceptual, sculptural, performative, or wildly experimental — if it plays, hits, rolls, swings, or collides… we want to see it.
