Join Us for DTLA Art Night . Thursday, September 3rd, 5 to 8PM
334 S Main Street, Courtyard Level
Artist Highlight: Davy Fiveash
Los Angeles-based artist Davy Fiveash works in a medium as unexpected as it is deliberate: pigmented wax. A contemporary application of a deeply nostalgic material, rendered with striking formal precision. His work is currently on view as part of ¡AGUANTA!, and this Thursday is your chance to see it in person.
Raised in a fundamentalist church in rural Georgia, Davy’s work explores belief as the essential system that shapes identity, morality, and the allegiances we form. What first reads as playful or familiar quickly reveals itself as something far more complex: saturated color, line, and shape building compositions that are as visually striking as they are unsettling beneath the surface, a meditation on mortality, prejudice, and consequence. Davy holds an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute, with work shown at the Crocker Art Museum, the de Young Museum, and George Krevsky Gallery, among others. Now based in LA, his emerging status means this is the moment to collect, before the market catches up.
