📀 Lorain’s Gospel Heritage Spotlight
In 1981, the acclaimed gospel group The Ballard Brothers recorded their vinyl album “Signs of the Time” in Jackson, Mississippi.
Originally formed in Humboldt, Tennessee, and later rooted in Lorain, Ohio, The Ballard Brothers became known both locally and nationally for their rich harmonies and heartfelt gospel sound. As a family-based group, their music carried a message that reflected their deepest belief: “A family that prays together, stays together.”
With three recorded albums to their name, their legacy remains an important part of Lorain’s cultural and musical history, showcasing how our community’s arts and culture extend far beyond city limits.
As we celebrate Ohio 250’s Arts & Culture month, we honor the voices, faith, and family traditions that helped shape Lorain’s enduring cultural identity.
