Rail Find: #555. Built in 1922 by the American Locomotive Company, #555 spent most of her working life as engine #5 on the Magma Arizona Railroad, hauling copper ore from Superior, Arizona, to Magma Junction and carrying mine supplies back.

She was one of the last steam locomotives in revenue service in the United States, making her final steam run for Magma on September 3, 1968.

Visit the Galveston Railroad Museum to discover #555 and other rare finds in our collection!

There is no fee to participate. Mentors and volunteers are also welcome. This educational outreach program is proudly supported by grants and contributions! Learn more: https://galvestonrrmuseum.org/education/young-ingenuity-program/

Take a closer look at the Santa Fe Railway Calendar Collection at the Galveston Railroad Museum.

Gathered by collectors Harry and David Briscoe, the collection is an archive of the iconic wall calendars issued by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway between 1907 and 1993, featuring prominent Southwest paintings.

The calendars provide a visual record of the Santa Fe Railway’s use of art to promote passenger travel throughout the Southwest. The collection is prominently displayed in the fully restored 1932 Union Station. Come see it during your next visit!
