Ever wonder about carriage steps and hitchings posts? Galveston is lucky to still have some of these original gems from days past.

A humble request during this busy holiday season...
I'm so grateful and excited to be named a finalist in three categories for Galveston.com's "Best of the Island" awards: Best Writer, Best Guided Tour, and Best Attraction.
I know everyone's schedules are busy, but if you have a moment to vote, I would truly appreciate your support. It means so much to me.

Being part of this community and having the opportunity to share Galveston's rich history—and my love for this island—is truly a gift. Thank you for supporting me and joining me on this journey.
Wishing you and your loved ones happy holidays, and looking forward to a bright 2026 for us all!

This type of exquisite craftsmanship and guardianship of historical properties...more, please!

Here's a look back at an article I wrote about the Joseph E. Wallis House, just one of numerous stunning mansions that have been lost over time.

Seeing the existing historic mansions on Galveston Island really brings home what a loss it is that so many no longer exist.
I enjoyed being one of the docents at the beautiful Mistrot home during GHFs Galveston HIstorical Homes Tour today. The interior is even more stunning than the exterior. Thank you to Sondra Oxman for inviting me to participate!
If you weren't able to tour the homes this weekend, you haven't missed out yet...the tours will take place again next weekend.

I'm heartbroken to share the news that one of the oldest homes on the island, the George Ball House, was lost in a horrific fire this week. It was a horrific day in this historic neighborhood.
Please send prayers for the homeowners who were injured, and for those whose homes were damaged. You will never find a more wonderful group of people than those that live in this street.

Both men went to the hospital with severe burns and smoke inhalation, according to the Galveston Fire Department.
