When the completion contains the start... the pieces and parts of cardboard stencil that went into the eventual design of "Rabbit Repast" are shown alongside it as "Cardboard Carrots" and "Cardboard Rabbits" - the stencils themselves used as wefts in these two pieces.

At Helena Sarah Richardson's Artist Talk last week, she described starting this piece "Green Evolution" as her return to weaving after some time away. She talked about the beginning - which is the bottom of the piece as being pretty "standard" weaving, and how she got more experimental as she went on - and ended up with all sorts of little images and decidedly non-standard practices as she progressed. The evolution of the piece can be seen as you look at it from bottom to top.

The Cuyahoga Weavers Guild will be joining us at the Gallery Saturday, August 29th at 3pm! If you want to see what they do, or ask any questions, be sure to come by and indulge in their wealth of experience and information! The Guild has been in existence for over 45 years, and they are ready to share their knowledge with us as a part of Helena Sarah Richardson's show, "Chasing Carrots".

About Cuyahoga Weavers Guild:
The Cuyahoga Weavers Guild of Cleveland, Ohio, is an organization open to all weavers, spinners and any others interested in textiles and fibers.

The weaving guild year is September through June. Meetings are generally held the third Thursday of the month. Check their website for the location.

At their meetings - Brown bag lunch usually starts at 11:30 am, the business meeting at 12:30 pm and the program at 1:00 pm. The Guild provides coffee, hot tea and usually cookies or other goodies.

For the event Saturday the 29th - Pinwheel will provide coffee, tea, and cookies.

Pinwheel Gallery is located at 2019 Broadview Road in the Old Brooklyn neighborhood of Cleveland Ohio. Parking is generously provided by our neighbors across the street at Gabe's Family Dining.

This series contains a number of versions of Lamb Chop - who many of you have recognized and commented on!

In Helena Sarah Richardson's artist talk, she talked about how "anything can be a weft" - the strings (or things) that form usually the side-to-side part of the weave. In these mini-sheep, Lamb Chop has become a weft.
