Cleveland R**e Crisis Center supports survivors of r**e and sexual abuse, promotes healing and prevention, and advocates for social change. Each year, over 46,500 people, one-third of them youth, find support by participating in the Center’s counseling, advocacy and education programs in Cuyahoga County, Ashtabula County, Geauga County and Lake County.

History
Cleveland R**e Crisis Center was founded in 1974 in response to Cleveland’s long-standing need for services to assist survivors of sexual assault.
Before the 1970s, most people who had suffered sexual abuse suffered in silence. Feelings of guilt, shame or fear kept these women, children and men from speaking out about, much less reporting, their assaults. Only in recent years has their silence been broken, in part by their outrage and refusal to accept misplaced blame, and in part by their knowledge that others will be there to support them.

To rescue and provide life-long homes for large, exotic and endangered captive wild animals and to educate the public about the causes of and solutions to the world’s Captive Wildlife Crisis.
America and the world have a captive wildlife crisis. As many as 30,000 captive great cats, Bears, Wolves and other large carnivores are living in substandard conditions throughout the U.S. In fact, after illegal drugs and weapons, the exotic animal trade is the third largest source of illicit profits in America—and the world—today.

Pinwheel Gallery is proud to introduce Rita Elswick!

Artist Bio:
Rita Elswick is a Lakewood, Ohio based photographer. Her specialty is in nature and wildlife photography. She has experience in both Landscapes, cityscapes and portrait photography. She has over two decades of experience in capturing moments through her camera lens. Her experience is in exhibiting her photographs in art exhibitions within her community and throughout the state of Ohio where she resides. Photography is a means of expression for Rita and through capturing moments it helps her help others see how beautiful the world can be even through the struggle of pain or disability. The human spirit is amazing, having the ability to heal itself through art. Rita’s journey has been a long one. She suffered a spinal cord injury 20 years ago, that left her in so much despair, but through photography it has been a healing source of HOPE. A wonderful motivational quote by Martin Luther King “Out of a mountain of despair a stone of hope”. This is the inspirational quote she wants to share with anyone who is facing obstacles in their life.

Photography allows her to see not only with her eyes, but with her heart. Photography has the ability to capture a moment in time and preserve it forever. Through photography she wants others to be inspired and empowered as she has been. It is not in her vocabulary to use the words I can’t or it’s impossible. Anything is possible with hope and a dream. A quote by John Wooden.” Don’t give up on your dream or your dreams will give up on you “.
