Wabash Arts Corridor Columbia College Chicago's Wabash Arts Corridor is a "living urban canvas" for creative expression, innovation and excellence in the arts.

In 2013, Columbia College Chicago launched the Wabash Arts Corridor to immerse students in the creative spirit by using urban spaces and reclaimable resources to revitalize and transform the South Loop business district into one of the city’s major cultural assets. The heart of WAC is Wabash Avenue from Van Buren to Roosevelt and is framed to the east by Michigan Avenue and to the west by State Street. While WAC anticipates the district to grow and develop further as a living laboratory, it is currently comprised of eights educational institutions, 19 galleries, 14 performance spaces, five major hotels and more than 40 restaurants. In just a few years, WAC has managed to connect students, artists, entrepreneurs, local businesses and commerce with educational and cultural programming for the visual, performing and media arts. The result has been the emergence of WAC as a key player in the city as an urban lab for creative expression, innovation and excellence in the arts. This DIY spirit promotes artists and creators to become involved in the community, not only making it a tourist destination, but a dynamic urban campus for students attending nearby colleges and universities.

🎶 With Lollapalooza beginning this week, did you know that the WAC was founded around a partnership with the music festival? 🎶

In 2014, Columbia College Chicago teamed up with Shepard Fairey (OBEY series, Obama HOPE) and three other Art Alliance: The Provocateurs artists to showcase their work in the WAC as part of an exhibition with Lollapalooza.

⭐️ Shepard Fairey: “We Own the Future,” 916 S. Wabash, north wall

⭐️ POSE: Untitled, 72 E. 11th on the west and north walls

⭐️ Cleon Peterson: Untitled, 634 S. Wabash, south wall [NO LONGER VISIBLE]

⭐️ RETNA: Untitled, 33 E. Congress, south wall [NO LONGER VISIBLE]

Art Alliance: Provocateurs
Assembling one of the largest art shows ever done, Art Alliance: The Provocateurs, featured trailblazers of the art world, such as Shepard Fairey, Swoon, HAZE, Space Invader, Dzine, Mark Mothersbaugh, FAILE, Ryan McGinness, Winston Smith, RETNA, Stanley Donwood, Monica Canilao, Clare Rojas, Estevan Oriol, Evan Hecox, Gary Panter, Jen Stark, Camille Rose Garcia, Revok, Cleon Peterson, D*Face, WK Interact and many others. The show was far more than a typical exhibition by combining world-class art with experiential and interactive components such as: music, public art, charities, local community interests, and education.

Meet Ziccy Delamarter, one of the student artists of the One Summer Chicago () / Wabash Arts Corridor murals!

Ziccy () is an Illustration alumni from Columbia College Chicago (). Ziccy, also known as Zicrona, is a muralist, printmaker, fine artist, illustrator, and street gore fanatic based in Chicago, IL. Their work can most often be found pasted in the streets of whatever city they currently inhabit. Zicrona’s work has been featured in galleries, shops, and alleyways throughout Chicago, New York, Rome, California, and more.
