This week, we celebrate two greats in the paperweight world!

Born on January 27, 1950, Drew Ebelhare first started working with stained glass in the 1970s. In 1979, Drew tried glassblowing during a glass symposium in Colorado where he immediately became hooked and inspired to launch his own glassblowing career. After meeting members of the Paperweight Collectors Association of Texas in 1991, Drew began focusing on making millefiori and crown paperweights, both of which he is well known for today. Happy Birthday, Drew!

In paperweight history this week, January 25, 2026, marks the 24th anniversary of the closing of Perthshire Paperweights. Based in Crieff, Scotland, Perthshire Paperweights was founded in 1968 after glass artist Stuart Drysdale was inspired to produce paperweights comparable to the French antiques. Perthshire quickly became world renowned for their excellence in paperweight making. Their traditional millefiori and lampworked designs are sought after to this day.
