Czr Prz’s solo exhibition, “Travel Through the Ether” is on view through May 18th. “Nymph” is the only work on paper.
Czr describes “Nymph” as the daughters of the earth mother in the spirit world, born from the ether, making them physical representations of the elements. They live in balance with the flow of energy that revolves around the ether. They are akin to nature but take a human form to be able to interact and communicate with travelers through the ether.

With an impressive background in creating public artwork and murals all over the world, Czr Prz is inspired by his childhood upbringing and artists both past and present whose work he admires. “Even the media I work in hails from a significant place in my heart. Public artwork proves a natural fit - like most kids, I used to tag. If you didn’t then you definitely knew someone who did where I lived. Art on the streets has definitely altered my life. Canvases call out to the storied Masters who took up this pursuit before me. Sculptural fabrication harkens back to the working class roots that raised me, proving heavy machinery can still produce delicately detailed results.” - Czr Prz

These pieces are based on the Mayan Myth of the Hero Twins whose story is narrated in the Popol Vuh, written in the early colonial period. One figure represents the Sun and the other, the Moon. Both have cityscapes as their crown and the waking of the third eye.

“Travel Through the Ether” features brand new works by Czr Prz that take the viewer on a journey through a vibrant world of cultural lore and folktales told in a modern language. Incorporating both traditional paintings and sculptures using modern production, Czr has elevated his story-telling craft into a visually stimulating experience complete with high color contrast layers of acrylic, plexiglass and paint. Using digital formats and laser cutting machinery, the resulting works include fully dimensional portraits, birds, flowers, patterns and symmetry. Czr has created an ethereal, alternate universe that balances nature and technology, the physical and the metaphysical, and science and mysticism.

Myron Laban (b. 1994) is a Chicago-Based visual artist, musician, and pharmacist born of Egyptian immigrants. His work focuses on the human condition, with a constant conversation on overcoming struggle and finding one’s light.
“Fly Away: A Different View” is an exhibition of multimedia basketball illustrations composed of painting, drawing and collage. In this series, Myron explores the process, movement and iconic imagery in basketball through his unique interpretation of figures in movement combined with flowers, vibrant color, abstract shapes and objects. The explorative element of this work is important as the artist uses these athletic figures as inspiration to demonstrate that growth comes with consistent determination and experimentation. Imperfection is welcome as the artist utilizes abstraction, brushstrokes and sketched elements. The message behind the series is that if you continue to strive and push forward, even amidst falling, you will grow and eventually, fly.

An exhibition is so much more than what you see when you walk into a gallery. The work that an artist puts into what will eventually culminate into a solo exhibition is truly astounding. Hours and hours of research, experimentation, sketching, decision-making, perfecting, etc. are all things that the public does not often get to see or experience. I’m so grateful for the chance to be able to get into an artist’s studio like Cydney’s, and see and learn about the process. It is truly a gift! This is just a glimpse into a studio visit a couple of months prior to the current exhibition to opening night.
