Located on the second-highest point in the State of Florida, Chinsegut Hill includes an 1850s-era house and largely unspoiled 114-acre preserve. The house museum tells the stories of the families who lived at Chinsegut, from before the Civil War through the 1930s. Visitors are welcome to tour the grounds, while the museum offers guided tours. Tours are scheduled to resume in late summer 2020.

The saddest time of my childhood was when I had to leave Chinsegut in the 1940's and return to Brooklyn, NY. With Uncle Raymond in charge, I had much more freedom than my parents had given me. Pet Harris was the cook at that time; she died not long after I left, the first big loss for my short life... I enjoyed your videos, especially about Lisa and her animals. Lisa's room was off limits because she had a chicken snake that had to be confined to her quarters because he would bite. There was a King Snake that I could play with; they don't try to bite so he had the run of the ground floor. I am so happy to see the house was "rescued" and restored. I'm now 80 and it is just this month that I passed on Bimini's (Margaret's) dressing gown down the female line. Lisa sent it to me years ago so it would stay in the Dreier line after her death and carry her call to social service. Thank you all for your work.
Tried to bring the family out yesterday after Ling wishing for time to visit, but was saddened to find it was closed for repairs. When will it reopen?
