There’s a quiet brilliance in the way marble can imitate fabric. Sculptors transform stone into flowing folds, capturing the softness and movement of drapery with astonishing precision. It’s a subtle but profound virtuosity—making the heaviest material appear weightless, fluid, alive.

Rich textures and stunning settings complement Frilli Gallery's artworks chosen for the Villa Héritage booth at Salone del Mobile, at Pavillion 13 - B18-C23.
An installation that affirms the importance of time and experience, with an idea of the interiors inspired by tradition, but reinterpreting it through a contemporary sensibility, thus enhancing the legacy of the past and projecting it into the future.

For the bathing area Architect Rochon has chosen to make a tribute to femininity and to maternity in one of the most intimate environments where a woman indulges to rest and to prepare her beauty. For this white setting the Venus with cymbals after Canova stands with all her pure sensuality.

Just as the wind that arrives and shakes the coasts and ruffles the seas and trees, so on a winter day Mistraline, allegory of the wind, arrived at the Frilli Gallery.

This beautiful elongated woman represents the prophecy of that disruptive current which, when it arrives, announces its important, impactful presence that does not go unnoticed.

The white Carrara marble sculpture Mistraline by artist Emmanuel Fillion is now part of the contemporary collection of the Frilli Gallery.

Fillion is an artist who comes from a long tradition of apprenticeship in sculpture which in France dates back to the medieval period of the great cathedrals: the legendary Companions, the stonecutters, builders of Gothic cathedrals.
His fourteenth generation identifies him as the direct grandson of the master Jean Cousin, painter of the French Renaissance, author of "Eve before Pandora" (currently exhibited at the Louvre) and his birth, in Soissons in 1966, saw him grow professionally in an area rich in history and stone sculptures.
His beginnings saw him sculpting at the young age of 15, as an apprentice, renovating prestigious historical monuments in France including: Notre Dame, Chateau de Chambord, The Louvre, La Sainte Chappelle in Vincennes, the cathedrals of Amiens, Sens, Beauvais , Rouen, Bourges, Moulins, Blois to name a few…

In 1994, Fillion moved to California: a journey that allowed him to create sculptures in marble, bronze, terracotta, paintings with the tromp-l'oeil technique, as well as portraits.
In 1997 he opened a studio in Malibu, where he began creating works for the most significant residences of American architectural heritage: the Fleur de Lys estate, Beverly Hills: Evershine, Los Altos, Arrowhead Lake Chateau and other works in Texas, Tennessee, Nevada, Oklahoma and Georgia.

Fillion's sculptures can also be found in private collections in the UK, France, Italy, Greece and the glittering United Arab Emirates.
In 2002 he appears in an educational documentary funded by Annenberg called “Through the Eyes of the Sculptor”, where he explains all the processes involved in creating a sculpture and virtually brings the viewer here to Pietrasanta, where Emmanuel has a studio.

Happy New Year from the Frilli Gallery!

A New Year without fear, a wish for a 2025 not to trap our souls, but to leave everyone free to search their path for liberty.

Galleria Frilli hosts the works of the sculptress Jana Buettner confirming its deep love for the figurative and the beautiful modeling, electing the sculpture "Trapped" as a symbol of redemption, liberation and revenge.

Trapped in an invisible space like four walls close together and claustrophobic, the dazed and lost gaze of someone immersed in the dark who turns her head to feel presences behind her shoulders. Closed in on herself, scared, she finds the strength to raise her arm and take it out of that ball shape she had created to protect herself, to disappear. The arm lingers, the hand opens to touch that invisible wall in the darkness. That wall will support her to get up, on tiptoe so as not to make noise, escaping from the box to see the light again. Standing up without breaking the silence, raising up without shouting, showing respect for the life she had lived until then in an invisible and narrow prison and finally running barefoot under the sun towards an unknown dimension called freedom.
No invisible wall is a trap if our courage wins and we make the wall of that dark box a shoulder to lean on, to pull up our body that has not given up and stop being afraid of fear.

The young sculptress Jana Buettner investigates fears, conflicts and problems of the social individual through allegorical still images that use only the body without surrounding objects or symbols for our easy reading.
Her women, her groups speak through movement, contortion and the incredible expressiveness of the faces in an impeccable Academic modeling that make her works open to a vast audience that seeks deep meaning and absolute aesthetic beauty.

This year for the Frilli Gallery has been a year of great initiatives and incredible satisfaction. A part of it has been the wonderful exhibition that featured the replica of the Gates of Paradise of the Baptistery of Florence, located inside Palazzo Tornabuoni, a magical place representing the history of the Florentine Renaissance.
It is now possible to admire the entire profile of the frame of the Gates of Paradise inside the Frilli Gallery, with all its strength and scenic presence. In 2025 our copy of the "Gates" will be the subject of new exhibitions and future projects involving established and talented contemporary artists. They will be invited to explore the lasting impact that art from the past has in the history of humanity and how its narratives have deep roots that continue to resonate with and inspire the modern world. Stay tuned for more to come in 2025!

Merry Christmas to everyone and looking forward to seeing you all in 2025!

THIN LINE

We are not satisfied with living for the sake of living, we look for meaning.

Human beings of today are dominated by scientific progress. They feel that their status is reduced from that of divine creatures to that of a chance of evolution of particles, without soul and without God.

Nihilism, Nothingness surround today’s
Humans. Hope is no longer projected in an otherworldly realm: it is limited to the here and now, to finiteness.

However apart from religious faith, more than ever undermined by science, there remains even in secular people a vague ancestral feeling that they belong to a double dimension, partly material, tangible reality, partly suprasensible, an invisible realty accessible only to intuition.

Be it because of faith or cultural heritage, humans still travel the thin line that separates immanence from transcendence, rationality from intuitive perception.

Antonio Crivelli - personal exhibition at the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno, Florence - November 9-28, 2024.

LINEA SOTTILE

“Each block has its own soul inside it,
he owns it,
he imprisons it,
ultimately frees it. You can only write about it in your own time,
to make it an echo which, when supported by the hands of the world,
will fertilize eyes that do not yet see,
will move hearts that still don't beat...
You can then survive,
within the heart
and the soul of the world, simply dancing
above a marble beach”
Giovanni Balderi

Galleria Frilli is pleased to announce, through the thoughts of the Author, the personal exhibition of the Sculptor Giovanni Balderi "L'Eco dell'Anima" currently taking place in the prestigious Palazzo Bricherasio in Turin, Italy.
The life of this incredible Artist has always been an intimate dialogue between his creativity and the raw material of marble; Giovanni the man, and the powerful marble in which each work already resides as per Michelangelo's predicament.
The weight of the strong and compact material and the strength required by the Sculptor appear incomprehensible in the face of the visual lightness, the sinuosity and delicacy of the bodies and flowers revealed by Giovanni's hand, a hand that seems to have caressed marble instead of sculpting it while engaging in a fight for the strongest.

On a day like any other, in a Florentine exhibition space born in 1860, a photographer captures marble surfaces making them soft as clouds, smooth as velvet.

The Boboli Venus, “Bobolina” also known as “Venus della Grotticella” contains the idea of a treasure kept in the most beautiful garden in Florence. The theme of the divinity coming out of the bath, very widespread in the late Renaissance, also captured the sculptor Giambologna who, at the end of the 1500s, who sculpted this magnificent little creature, inviting people to walk around the slender figure to enjoy its grace in its three dimensions exposed to the public with modesty.

Walking through the Frilli Gallery rooms with high volutes, the photographer lingers on many faces, busts, masculine classic torsos and Canovian dancers who came out of the Frilli Gallery's workshop.

The replica has always fascinated because it donates a sensation of living daily next to what came from the genius; it makes you think of owning time and makes you feel privileged in being able to keep it in private rooms, away from the gaze of the many visitors crowded in front of the originals.

At the same time, through an artfully created photo, the marble replica becomes a masterpiece of a masterpiece.

With its naturally smooth and white surface that lends itself to be caressed by the gray contrasts deliberately created with a kind of shadow that the photographer almost slides over it, these images become true pictorial versions of the replicas signed by Galleria Frilli.

Thanks to Palazzo Tornabuoni for the unique opportunity of exhibiting the Gates of Paradise - deconstructed. Last May Frilli Gallery in collaboration with the members of the exclusive historical Florentine noble Palazzo Tornabuoni presented a one and only opportunity to admire the replica deconstructed, with its incredibly rich and highly decorated frame separated from its inner panels. Lorenzo Ghiberti’s expertise in casting and chiseling animal and floral decorative motifs along with numerous portrays of sibyls and prophets is quite impressive! Enjoy this video of the dismantling of the exhibit with the incredible aid of arts specialist movers.

Introducing at Frilli Gallery - Galleria Frilli

Simone Filosi was born in Perugia in 1978. In 1997, after completing his scientific maturity, he met marble and its mystery. The young artist senses and recognizes the secret power contained in matter. The mystery of the sleeping form in the marble block, a mystery of possible beauty that awaits to be freed and given birth and entrusted to the world by the wise hands of Man. The call is too strong, Simone begins training at a laboratory in his city.

He later moved to Carrara, graduating from the "PIETRO TACCA" institute: he began to learn about sculpture techniques, perfecting himself in the historic laboratories of Carrara and Pietrasanta, where the great artisans and master sculptors possessing ancient knowledge and experience have always worked.

Simone Filosi works on the void. This dilated space is clothed by sculpture.

This is the sign of Simone Filosi's art. This is the sign of all love. It is true Art, it is true Love, only what frees you, what leads you to be True.

The new Artwork "Symbiosis between Heaven and Earth" has arrived on exhibition at Frilli Gallery as further confirmation of the sculptural ability of this young Italian artist.

The symbiosis is not only between terrestrial matter and celestial matter but also between fullness and emptiness, between substance and essence. The working technique of this patient Perugino artist is based on the principle of presence (in the full) and absence (in the void) in a message of great strength and hope where time has no value and does not determine the success of any creation that does not it can be born in a hurry, in chaos and without care.

Precisely for this reason the work has an anthropomorphic appearance, to underline that the human being himself is in symbiosis with heaven and earth and is born and perfected slowly.

As a second testimony of the great mastery of this artists we are showing his personal interpretation of the illustrious Torso Gaddi, as a proof of the continuous strain between classic and contemporary innovation.
