It's been a whirlwind few months with the gallery opening so we are taking a little time off this week and next, opening again Saturday 26th October.

You can still enjoy the first two exhibitions held in our new gallery in Cornwall via our website, magically jumping between the two in the same light-filled space.

Where did you look for inspiration for your Shifting Skies collection?

'The thought of Shifting Skies made me think about emotion and how our feelings move and change. My work has always been about the things I want to remember, the things that I notice. The title of this exhibition sparked thoughts in me about changing emotions and about connections with loved ones. I have two grown up children who are no longer at home and often not even in the same country as me. I'll often find myself glancing upwards out of my studio windows imagining what they might be doing and what their skies look like knowing that we're all united under the same sun.'

Read our full Q&A with Carolyn Tripp on her artist page and see her full new collection in our current exhibition 'Shifting Skies' until 11th September in the gallery and online.

Alongside the new collections in our current exhibition 'Shifting Skies', we have added select pieces from our whole representation of gallery artists. This part of the exhibition isn't planned in advance, one of the many joys in now having our permanent new home In Cornwall and being able to choose these pieces as we put everything together within the space.

Gorse is one of the most talked about bakeries in Cornwall and one of the many independent businesses that we are lucky enough to have as neighbours here at Lanteague Studios.

Visit us here at unit 12 on Tuesdays (2-6pm) and Wednesdays -Saturdays (10.30am-4pm).

Our full collection including a selection of handmade plates can also be explored via our website.

In responding to the theme of our newly opened exhibition 'Shifting Skies’, Carolyn Tripp has focussed on the act of looking up as a moment of pause and reflection. At these times thoughts often turn to loved ones, to memories of places, to absence, and the connections that stay.

Wherever we are in the world, we look up and see the sky existing beneath the same sun and moon, even when surrounded by vastly different environments. Looking up becomes a way of connecting with the people we choose to remember or want to feel close to or the memories we want to never forget. Through these pieces, Carolyn hopes to hold that sense of shared sky and quiet connection.

View the collection in the gallery at Unit 12, Lanteague Studios, Cornwall, or via our website.
