Heritage: A User's Manual

Heritage: A User's Manual Heritage: A User’s Manual is curated by MA Culture, Criticism and Curation students from Central Saint Martins.

Heritage: A User’s Manual is an exhibition founded on the belief that the heritage of a building is characterised by the continually changing contributions of its community. The vitrines feature perspectives on the heritage of Southbank Centre and, in particular, the Brutalist architecture of Hayward Gallery. The archive is activated to reflect on the early years of Hayward Gallery in anticipation

of its forthcoming reopening in 2018, its 50th anniversary, through interweaving archival material and contemporary responses. Artist and user testimonies on Brutalist architecture past and present reveal connections between the construction of Hayward Gallery and the life of Southbank Centre today. Curated by Eda Berkmen, Jacopo Butti, Luis Manuel Gómez Abajo, Lai Man Leung, Carlota Montoliú Hernández, Azzurra Pitruzzella, Ophelia Stimpson, Jack Thomas Taylor, Annika Turkowski (MA Culture, Criticism and Curation students from Central Saint Martins)
