The Bomb Factory Art Foundation was founded on the premise that art, artists and creative culture offer significant value in our society. Our mission is to support artists, cultural organisations and educational institutions to engage people of all ages and backgrounds in the viewing and creation of art. The Bomb Factory enables contemporary visual arts practice to thrive through the provision of

affordable studio and exhibition space as well as a supportive network of artists where peer collaboration and critique is encouraged.

​All resident artists support the organisation by contributing their skills and time to the public programme. Their engagement with learning and participation enables The Bomb Factory Art Foundation to demonstrate the social value of art.

Up next in our Holborn Window Gallery is a presentation of works by Thompson Hall, who is a resident artist at ActionSpace.

Thompson Hall creates large-scale acrylic paintings and pencil drawings that explore inequalities in society, and subjects connecting to his own personal story. Thompson utilises abstracted symbols, text and pattern to shed light on issues of inequality and social change and reflect on colonial history. His political paintings challenge people to think about the imbalances of life, what is happening in the world at the moment and the society around us.

ActionSpace is a visual arts organisation that supports learning disabled artists across London. They seek out and unlock talent, create opportunities and enable learning disabled artists to realise their potential.

The presentation runs until 24th September at 105 Kingsway.

It’s the final week to catch the current Holborn window exhibition: “Community, Resistance, Self”, curated by realartsschool .

Real Art School is a free, London based and community-led programme taking a holistic approach to arts education. Every two weeks, they run workshops, artist talks, and cross-disciplinary sessions designed to give aspiring young artists access to professional mentorship, materials, and paid creative work.

This exhibition features a selection of young creatives who have taken part in these workshops, responding to the themes of community, resistance and self.

The show runs until the end of the month!

This is the final week to catch “Genre Paintings” by Harry Whitelock in our Holborn gallery. Open 12-6pm today until Friday, closed Saturday, then open again for the same hours on Sunday.

“Genre Paintings”, a solo presentation of works by Harry Whitelock, continues in our Holborn Gallery until 1st August.

Open Wednesday to Saturday 12-6pm.

Whitelock’s practice explores the enduring notion of the artist as a figure searching for meaning through making. His work examines the belief placed in the creative process as a way of understanding the human condition and our place in the world, while confronting the uncertainty and lack of resolution that often accompany artistic production. Drawing on familiar ideas of the artist as seeker and outsider, Whitelock considers how the artist’s identity is formed and performed, and questions how much of that journey is shaped by inherited expectations of what an artist should be.

Join us this Thursday between 6-8pm for the opening of “Genre Paintings”, a solo presentation of works by Harry Whitelock.

Drawing on familiar ideas of the artist as a seeker and outsider, Whitelock considers how identities are formed, inherited and performed. ‘Genre Paintings’ explores the narratives that surround artistic practice and asks what happens when meaning is not received through established structures, but created through individual experience.

At the centre of the exhibition is Whitelock’s interest in labour and process. His sculptures and paintings reflect a pursuit of purpose through continual making, where the desire to create the perfect artwork becomes connected to the desire to understand oneself. The works suggest that meaning may not be found through reaching an endpoint, but through the act of searching.

Coming up in our Holborn gallery, we are exited to present ‘Genre Paintings’, a solo exhibition by Harry Whitelock.

For the next week, we are happy to be hosting Brazil Creating Fashion for Tomorrow (BCFT) in our Marylebone Gallery, presenting two distinct yet deeply interconnected exhibitions:

Caatinga: Stitching Resilience, a showcase of avant-garde responsible fashion and pioneering biomaterial practices, alongside a curated selection of Anna Mariani’s photographs (1935–2022): Caatinga, a Forest of Many Colours. Together, the exhibitions explore one of the most ecologically vital yet overlooked ecosystems and the communities that thrive within it.

Hosted in our Marylebone gallery until 28th June, the dual programme positions northeastern Brazilian material culture as an urgent blueprint for global industries searching for regenerative models of production and consumption.
