Sharks Attack 🦈

New sharks from Enrico Ceccotto’s cult series are about to arrive in London. 🇮🇹 🇬🇧

The Italian Artist transforms the shark into an icon. A wall-mounted sculpture that blends pop culture, street energy and handcrafted detail. Wood, mixed media, acrylic, fabric, resin. Each piece is unique. Each piece has its own character.

These works sit somewhere between collectible object and contemporary art statement. Playful at first glance, sharp underneath.

508 Gallery is pleased to officially introduce Nana Danso.

A Ghanaian painter, Nana Danso’s practice unfolds between intuition and memory, gesture and symbolism. His figures appear suspended, emerging from layered surfaces as presences rather than portraits. They move between the physical and the spiritual, carrying fragments of collective memory, personal emotion, and inherited storytelling traditions.

Working primarily with acrylic and charcoal, his paintings balance rawness and delicacy. The surfaces feel open, vulnerable, and charged, as if constantly shifting between construction and erasure. The result is a visual language that resists fixed narratives and invites the viewer into a more intuitive and emotional space.

Nana Danso’s work has also entered broader cultural dialogues through significant collaborations, including with Off-White, marking an important moment of visibility on an international stage while preserving the integrity of his artistic voice.

Through both studio works and larger-scale projects, his figures seem to drift in and out of the picture plane, suggesting transition, transformation, and presence beyond form.

Introducing Konboye.

Born in Nigeria, Konboye transforms discarded flip flops into powerful mosaic portraits. Materials once abandoned are cut, stitched, and reassembled into layered surfaces where memory, identity, and resilience take form.

The DADA series explores the human face as a site of tension and care: fragile yet composed, intimate yet monumental. Each work carries the trace of its making. The slow, meditative act of sewing becomes both a gesture of repair and resistance.

Konboye’s practice has gained international recognition, with features by major global media and participation in exhibitions and residencies across Africa, Europe, and South America.

These works are not only about recycling materials, but about rethinking value, responsibility, and visibility.

From the “Echos of Tomorrow” series, this painting celebrates abundance, colour and the living rhythm of the Australian landscape. Dotted constellations, flowing blues and deep reds trace bush foods, sandy riverbeds and the pathways that connect them. Traditional elements of contemporary Indigenous storytelling meet a crisp abstract language, so shapes and colours seem to move across the surface like a living map. With each look, new details appear, echoing its sister works Waterways and All My Dreams. In a calm interior the piece becomes an anchor, warm and luminous, carrying the landscape into the room.

Meet Gretel, an Essex-based artist whose practice moves between figuration and emotional intensity.

Working primarily with the human body, her paintings explore vulnerability, tension, and intimacy through bold colour, expressive gesture, and layered surfaces. Figures appear fragmented yet grounded, caught in moments that feel both raw and deeply personal.

In her studio, painting becomes a physical process. Marks are built, scraped back, and reworked, allowing the body to emerge not as an ideal form, but as a site of memory, sensation, and emotional truth.

Gretel’s work resists easy narratives, inviting viewers into a space where strength and fragility coexist.

The works of Jan Böhmer establish a powerful presence within their surroundings.

Through raw surfaces, bold colour and an uncompromising visual language, they establish an authentic dialogue with their surroundings. Neither purely decorative nor strictly conceptual, these works exist as strong presences that shape the identity of a space.

Placed within contemporary interiors, they become points of visual and narrative tension, bringing depth, character and a distinct atmosphere to the environment.

At 508 Gallery we are sharing a closer view of “Tragic in Red”, one of Jan Böhmer’s most emotionally charged works.
Jan describes the figure as a young woman who steps away from the weight of her everyday life, searching for something beyond what she knows. Her body, rendered in vibrant reds and violets, becomes a space where inner conflict, tenderness and determination collide.

The yellow sneakers floating around her are not a random detail. In Jan’s words, they represent the rhythm of uncertainty that follows every moment of change, a kind of restless movement that pushes the figure forward even when she hesitates.
This creates a tension that is central to his practice. His subjects are never static. They exist in transition, between what they leave behind and what they hope to become.

“Tragic in Red” is not a tragedy. It is a portrait of transformation, of courage, and of the fragile beauty that appears when someone lets themselves step into the unknown.

One of the standout works in our collection, and a powerful example of Böhmer’s expressive and psychological depth.

“Bloominglove” by Jan Böhmer turns intimacy into an act of freedom and quiet rebellion.
Two women, painted in electric contrasts, reveal a bond that resists control: one sticks out her tongue, the other chooses not to see, reflecting the artist’s ironic stance.
Uniforms, authority and structure fall away into colour, gesture and emotion.
Love blooms where it is not expected, unapologetic, defiant and deeply human.

We are thrilled to introduce an Artist whose practice stands out for its intensity, its honesty, and its unmistakable visual language. Jan builds his works from the ground up: hand-prepared canvases, a distinctive material surface, and a layered mix-media technique that gives each piece a physical presence of its own.

His paintings are bold and provocative, not for shock value, but because each of them carries a deliberate message. Figures emerge and recede, pigments interact with light, and the surface holds traces of tension, vulnerability, and resilience. The large formats amplify this emotional charge, inviting the viewer to step into the work rather than merely observe it.

Jan creates images that confront you, speak to you, and stay with you long after you’ve looked away.

One painting, two readings. The image lives in the weave as much as on the surface. From the front the face sharpens and loosens as you move; on the reverse it stays, quiet and diffused, within the fiberglass weave. Juan Carlos Callejas builds his ground by hand with fiberglass and works pigment into it rather than simply laying it on top.
