Presenting a suite of sixteen new works, the exhibition continues the Torres’ exploration of magical realism, figuration, symbolism and folk cultures.

In a new film directed by Camilla Greenwell, Catherine Long is captured at work in her studio, offering an insight into the relationship between movement and painting that is central to her practice.

Drawing on her background in contemporary dance, Long’s painting practice is informed by somatic awareness, spatial intelligence and improvisation. Approaching the canvas as a choreographic field, she explores the relationship between the body, rhythm and gesture. Working primarily at scale, Long builds her compositions through layered marks and sinuous contours, creating paintings that invite a direct, physical encounter with the viewer.

Only two days left to visit 'Sarah Schlesinger: Sight Line' at our Swallow Street gallery.

In this new body of work, the artist investigates the formalist possibilities of seascapes and waves. Schlesinger removes traditional landscape tropes, such as panoramic vistas and horizon lines, offering instead closely cropped vignettes whose perspectives ebb and flow through gentle shifts in palette and tone. Working within these limitations, Schlesinger introduces geometric abstraction into her work, complicating our understanding of surface and object.

Only a few days left to visit Sarah Schlesinger's 'Sight Line' at our Swallow Street gallery.

As the exhibition title suggests, Schlesinger’s paintings emphasise the subjectivity of vision. The artist illuminates her works without revealing their light source; hazy oranges glisten against inky blues and murky greens, evoking the shifting light of sunset or sunrise. This temporal ambiguity unsettles our sense of place, allowing the landscape to exist in a continual state of revelation and concealment.

Visit the exhibition at our Swallow Street gallery until Saturday, 17 October.

The exhibition continues Torres’ exploration of magical realism, figuration, symbolism and folk cultures, bringing together works that explore the relationship between the real and the imagined.

📢 We are delighted to announce the expansion of Huxley-Parlour with a new gallery dedicated exclusively to photography – Huxley-Parlour Photographs – which will operate as a sister brand to the main gallery.

Photography has been central to Huxley-Parlour since its founding in 2010, and this new chapter reflects our renewed commitment to the medium and our ambition to establish one of Europe’s leading specialist photography galleries.

We launch later this month with an exhibition dedicated to Susan Meiselas’ celebrated series, 'Carnival St*****rs', alongside the unveiling of our new website.
