Inspired by an ongoing project titled Dispatch which Jan Vormann started in 2006, the artist created several striking yet playful mixed media sculptures for . As the title suggests the initial project was centred around patching together gaps in city walls, replacing these voids with colourful Lego bricks or other small plastic constructions. This concept is based on the placement of regular elements that are then taken out of context, transforming the space they occupy into a new and colourful world. Stop by the exhibition Tuesday - Saturday 10:00am - 6:00pm to see these eclectic works in the flesh.

Craig Costello grew up in Queens in the 1980’s surrounded by graffiti writers, skaters and punks. Graffiti was a part of the attitude as much as it was the landscape. After founding KRINK in the 90’s, the artist’s own line of markers and paints, Costello found the perfect substance to facilitate his paint-drip aesthetic which has become synonymous with his practise. In the words of Sasha Bogojev, "The work of Brazilian artist Alex Senna was never about it's decorative value or the painterly skills, but about the people it represents and the atmosphere inspired by everyday life. Living in a vibrant multicultural country full of opposites, he reduced his visual language to black and white silhouette-like characters in order to depict the much needed unity of his fellow countrymen. Senna's work often talks about solitude, love, friendship, passion, conformity and family. Recognized for his compelling public interventions, his work is often interacting with the surrounding or creating simple illusions with clever use of light and shadow." Dan Lam is known for her bright, bold, unique sculptures, embraced by a wide range of audiences. Since the outset of her career, the artist has developed a playful style, grounded in material. Dan works with liquid foam to produce drip sculptures, which rest between chance and intentionality. Rendering her works in a highly colourful visual palette and creating exaggerated drips of plastic covered in paint ‘spikes,’ she produces bubbly soft-bodied objects. Resembling otherworldly creatures, Dan’s sculptures cannot blend into their surroundings; bold and funny, they stand out and provoke. The sight of the spike-bearing arms leaves the viewer suspended between attraction and aversion.

Press play ▶️ to watch artist Jan Kaláb create his incredible piece for . Jan Kaláb became a prominent figure on the urban art scene after emerging from a former Eastern Bloc. In the 1990s he founded an iconic crew, the DSK, that proved instrumental to introducing graffiti in the Czech Republic and beyond. Today, Kaláb works across painting and sculpture. His works appear as blown up organic microcosms, coexisting seamlessly with their environment. The artist uses a visually impactful palette, often incorporating hues of neon blue, pink or orange. Conveying an architectural element, despite the bold colours, his works coexist with their environments without friction, which offers a different kind of visual experience. Jan Kaláb lives and works in Prague, Czech Republic.

Let's take a closer look at eL Seed's beautiful sculpture which was officially unveiled outside Dubai Opera in March 2018. The words depicted in the artwork, spell out a statement by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Dubai. It reads: “Art in all its colours and shapes reflects the culture of nations, their history and civilisations.” The work titled Declaration was a love declaration to both the artist's city and his language.
