This is a photograph of the Recce Platoon, 2nd Battalion at the Jungle Warfare School in Belize, 1976. Jungle warfare is tough, and the additional training soldiers require to survive and fight still goes on today.

For throw back Thursday, we have a photograph HQ Company, 2nd battalion, Royal Anglian Regiment, during Exercise Lionheart in 1984 in Germany. Troops and vehicles staged and mobilized across north western Europe, with personnel transiting through ports and areas in the UK, Belgium, and the Netherlands before entering the main combat zone in the Rhine Valley

Take a look at some of the other 17000 items now online for you to access on our website. https://www.royalanglianregiment.com/museum/collection/

In the museum collection is this flag, which was used in Camp Bastion in Afghanistan in 2007. It looks older because of how sun-bleached it is from being used in the tough environment our soldiers had to live and work in as well. One of the different things in the collection is this large piece of stone that has the shape of Gibraltar carved into it. It is quite a heavy piece but gives a good 3D representation of Gibraltar in a model form. It would have been presented to the Regiment during one of their assignments to that location.
