IWM Duxford's live-action flying event season is always packed full of entertainment. Experience a full day out at our air shows, from the family-friendly Duxford Summer Air Show in June to the Duxford Battle of Britain Air Show in September, featuring historic aircraft and the famous 'Big Wing'.

On Saturday, the 2026 Flying Season came to a spectacular close at IWM Duxford, with breathtaking displays from the RAF Red Arrows, RAF Typhoon Display Team and a host of other Duxford favourites who took the skies throughout the afternoon. Thank you to everyone who attended, displayed and made the event possible.

We're delighted to confirm that tickets for the 2027 IWM Duxford Flying Season are now available to IWM Members and will be on general sale from Monday 12 October 2026. We can't wait to welcome you back.

The IWM Duxford Flying Season 2026 comes to a close this Saturday with a special flying display featuring a stellar line-up, including the RAF Red Arrows, RAF Typhoon Display Team and many more.

Please note that tickets for the Duxford Flying Finale are SOLD OUT. Tickets are not available on the gate, so please only travel to IWM Duxford this Saturday 3 October if you have a valid ticket.

A Rota Mark I, possibly K4239 of No. 5 Radio Maintenance Unit Calibration Flight, being wheeled into position by groundcrew at Duxford, Cambridgeshire, before a flight, ca. 1940.

The Rota Mark I was the Royal Air Force (RAF) service name for the Cierva C.30A, a pioneering British-built autogyro designed by Spanish engineer Juan de la Cierva. The aircraft were at the time flying calibration missions over the English coast, hovering to provide fixed targets that allowed ground operators to tune and maintain the vital accuracy of Britain's Chain Home radar network.

It was a joy for us to welcome Royal 'Flash' Gordon at IWM Duxford where he got to reunite with the F-4 Phantom he flew 26 times during his time in the US Navy during his FRS training with VF-171.

The F4 Phantom is an American twin engine supersonic interceptor and fighter bomber military aircraft, built by McDonnell Douglas in 1967. The F-4 Phantom you can see at IWM Duxford served with the US Navy 1968-1982, and also served with No 74 Squadron, Royal Air Force (RAF) on air defence operations 1984-1991.

The Battle of Britain reached its climax on the 15th of September 1940, on what is now called Battle of Britain day.

Germany launched a massive air assault which it believed would finally shatter Fighter Command’s resistance. Over 1,500 aircraft battled in the skies over London, with the RAF repelling the assault and inflicting heavy losses on the Luftwaffe.

This photograph comes from camera gun footage taken by Pilot Officer Keith 'Skeets' Ogilvie of No. 609 Squadron during the battle over London. It shows a Dornier Do 17Z piloted by Oberleutnant Robert Zehbe under attack. The aircraft was later abandoned and flew on until being rammed over central London by Sergeant Ray Holmes of No. 504 Squadron. It crashed on Victoria station.
