Tuesday 27th October, 3:30pm - 4:30pm

Join us for a relaxed and welcoming introductory museum session at Saffron Walden Museum & Castle Grounds for children and young people with SEND and their families. This pilot session has been designed to provide an opportunity for families to visit the museum together in a supportive environment, meet museum staff, and explore a range of sensory, creative and hands-on heritage activities.

The session will give families and children the opportunity to become familiar with the museum, explore the space at their own pace, and learn more about potential future activities and programmes. We are keen to hear from families about what works well, what support may be needed, and what types of activities they would like to see offered in the future.

Activities may include sensory trolley exploration, object handling, heritage rubbings, printing press activities, museum discovery activities, and opportunities for informal discussion and feedback with museum staff and Disability Inclusion Officers.

Places are limited to help maintain a calm, welcoming and inclusive environment. Museum staff will be available throughout the session to provide support, answer questions and gather feedback from families.

Children must be aged between 4-14 and registered with The West Essex Inclusion Project and Shortbreaks for Disabled Children & Young People in Essex to attend.
