Another edition of our digitisation project. The pictures this time around a bit of a jumble collection. There are 3 from the early 20th century showing an event for a Methodist Sunday School at Woodbine Cottage on Combes Road, 2 of a demolition at Anchor Square in the 1950s and the final one is Rutland Square and the bus stop to Buxton in the 1970s Bakewell of Yesteryear

Yesterday we were very pleased to accept a photograph album into our collection. The album details a tour made by the Bakewell British Legion to the World War One cemeteries in Belgium and northern France in 1936. It is a fantastic piece of social history and is particularly poignant as only a few years after the photographs were taken, men from Bakewell would, once again, fight and die on the battlefields of Europe.

We have another selection of photographs from our digitisation project to share with you. This time we are focusing on some very early photographs from the Bakewell Carnival. We think most of these come from the 1910s and 1920s but there are still some familiar sites in there. I think the Carnival has changed a little since then though! Bakewell of Yesteryear

We're just starting a very large digitisation project at Bakewell Old House Museum. We have thousands of photographs showing Bakewell through the years so we are scanning them in the hopes that some day soon we'll be able to allow access to our extensive archive. The first batch has come through and these are just some of the photographs from it - all of the Bakewell Project in the 1990s. This is just the first of many posts of our archive!
