Eyam Village Museum

Eyam Village Museum The moving story of life in the "plague village". We look at when it happened, how it spread, and how many people were killed.

Our visitors are often surprised to discover how much the Museum has to offer, often describing it as a "tardis" - seemingly much larger on the inside than on the outside. We have used the space to explain the Eyam Plague story fully, and also to look at plague more widely throughout history. We then look at how the village has changed in the last 350 years, set against the background of the distinctive local geology that shaped Eyam's development.

After the passing of the legendary Dolly Parton yesterday we were surprised to find out that there's a rumour that she has visited Eyam Museum!

You can listen to BBC Radio 2's clip from yesterday morning where Mark from Derbyshire sent a message in, recalling her possible visit to the village.

*If* it's true, we think this might have happened in 2007 when she came to Sheffield, Rotherham & Manchester when she was launching Imagination Library in the UK.

Comment if you know anything more, especially if you're Mark! 🀣
