🚂 YOUR STATION NEEDS YOU! ❤️

Fancy becoming part of a friendly team and helping keep our lovely station and tearoom buzzing?

☕ We’re looking for volunteers to join our Tearoom Team. Whether you can spare a regular day a week, a few hours, or just help occasionally, we’d love to hear from you. We are open Wed-Sun each week (closed Mon & Tues), and lots of exciting events coming up.

No experience needed, but if you do have hospitality or food safety training that would be perfect — we just ask for a friendly smile, a willingness to help and a love of meeting people! 😊

You’ll be joining a great bunch of volunteers, making new friends and helping visitors enjoy their time at Wingfield Station 1947.

🚨🚂 IT’S OFFICIAL — THE EXHIBITION IS NOW OPEN! 🚂🚨

The Francis Edward Thompson Exhibition is now open at Wingfield Station 1947 🎉

What a fantastic start! 👏

⭐ A HUGE shout-out to Owen Plumber, architect from York, who delivered a fascinating talk on the Life & Work of Francis Edward Thompson. An excellent insight into the man behind some of the most important early railway architecture.

Our enormous thanks to Steve & Dave from the Midland Railway Society for arranging the permanent loan of the original 1841 North Midland Railway station drawings.

These incredible historic drawings are now on display in our exhibition — a truly special piece of railway history. 🚂❤️

🚂 FRANCIS EDWARD THOMPSON EXHIBITION – WINGFIELD STATION 🚂

Come along and discover the life and work of Francis Edward Thompson, one of Britain’s first internationally recognised architects and the talented architect behind Wingfield Station.

The exhibition tells the fascinating story of his work and legacy, with visitors also able to view original 1841 North Midland Railway station drawings, alongside models and historic artefacts.

Evening everyone. Last Saturday night, we held our first "pop up" fine dining experience at the station. It was a fabulous night, thoroughly enjoyed by all 26 diners and our volunteers. A big thank you to the Matlock Ukulele Group Strummers for the fabulous music and song. Also a big thank you to Emilys Home Cooked Kitchen for the fantastic menu and beautiful food. Our next fine dining event is going to be a Wingfield Manor themed Christmas Banquet at 6.45pm on 19 December. There is going to be a very special night with fantastic food, music, a visit by Mary Queen of Scots and much more! To book places please go to

Evening everyone. Tomorrow afternoon, we are delighted to welcome back 'A Pair of Plonkers' for more lovely live music. Also this weekend will be the last chance to see the winners of the 2026 South Wingfield Scarecrow Trail...Paddington and Earth Mother together at the station. Paddington is then off to start a new adventure at South Wingfield Primary School! We have lovely Autumn cakes and coffee syrups for you to enjoy in the tearoom. The station is back open at 10 tomorrow.

Morning everyone. It is day 1 of the South Wingfield Scarecrow Trail. We have 2 at the station. A marvellous Paddington Bear complete with marmalade sandwich and his train ticket from Wingfield to Peru! A big shout out to volunteers Helen and Simon for their creativity. We also have a Dalek made by the Woodland volunteers. Scarecrow Trail maps are available at the station and over 40 can be found around the village. A full range of delicious refreshments are available in the tearoom for you to enjoy. Just a reminder that the station is closing for today only at 2.30pm for a private dining event tonight.

Morning everyone. We are pleased to say that the South Wingfield Scarecrow Trail maps are now available at the station for this weekend. The map shows the location of the 36 scarecrow locations around the village and includes a voting form, so you can vote for your favourite. Votes can be posted at the station. We will have 2 scarecrows at the station, Paddington Bear and a Dalek!
