It’s always a pleasure to host Ruth Gray images, looking forward to an eventful few days. Call in the gallery to see Ruth and her fabulous artwork.
If you’ve never been to the arts trail before, you may be wondering what it is?
Well, the arts trail takes place over two days, Sunday 5th and Bank Holiday Monday 6th May.
During those two days around the centre area of Belper you will be able to find 170 artists and makers in 54 venues dotted throughout the town.
Each of the artists and makers will be set up in varied and unusual spaces. Their work will be available to purchase and the artist or maker will generally be there for you to chat too about their work.
The trail is supported by a full live music programme with the main stage on the Memorial Gardens, along with 4 busk stops around the trail.
We also have a Children’s Theatre Show on each day in The Ritz Cinema and, at certain times throughout the two days, you may well find a stilt walker, a princess, a ribbon dancer and there will be big bubbles going on too. All being well you can have a ride on a miniature railway as well.
If you fancy something a little more scary (not that scary) you could watch a film about the spooky Shining Cliff Woods. You could also take part in one of the watercolour taster classes going on.
A wristband and an arts trail guide will guarantee you entry into every venue on the map and they cost just £5 per person. Save your wristband as they are numbered and we do have a prize draw after the trail for a chance to win £50. Please note the Children’s Theatre Show and the miniature railway have an extra cost.
It’s always an event that brings our community together with, hopefully, something for everybody and it’s always over two days so you get the chance to see everything and everybody.
In a nutshell that’s basically what the arts trail is. So pop your walking boots on and come and celebrate our 11th year with us and see Belper at it’s creative best.
