Vi har to virkelig fine pladser ledige på vores værksted som ligger på Nørrebro lige ved søerne.

Plads B er faktisk min plads :) Jeg rykker nemlig internt til en liiiidt større plads... men som man kan se på billedet er der plads til RIGTIG meget derinde!

Vi har skønne fællesarealer med en masse fælles faciliteter, eks. trykbord, farvekøkken, tekstil damper, tilskærebord, symaskiner, dampanlæg.

Og et fælles køkken, hvor vi spiser frokost sammen.

Please read the text: Let’s continue comparing professional athletes and artists and talk a bit more about how to measure value and 🤑💰💸

When you look at how much superstars in sport and art can make from their job, it is both fascinating and ridiculous.

As I embroider this new series, I document the actual making time. One piece took 4h19min, another 5h21min — almost like measuring the duration of a professional tennis match.

But we all know that becoming one of the best tennis players in the world involves far more than the hours spent on the court. Years of training, discipline, coaching, recovery and sacrifice.

I know it’s a ridiculous comparison, but over the years I’ve had many interesting encounters around how to value my work, my skills and my time.

This series I work on now is financially supported by the Danish Arts Foundation, which allows me to develop new work without immediately having to translate it into money. I can focus on the primary goal: Making art.

In sport, Team Danmark provides a similar kind of support for professional athletes.

Both are political choices — decisions about what we, as a society, believe is worth investing in.

I am curently working on these new pieces 🪡

I am using paracord to embroider onto a semitransparent spacer fabric, which gives the pieces volume and stability.

The ornaments are a mix of sports graphics and flowers interlinking with each other.

I like the contradiction of sport and hand-craft.

In sport you need to be fast ... embrodery is slow...

The materials I use are strong and made for functional purposes ... Embroidery is the complete opposite with its focus on the 'ornament' and its 'non-functional' purpose.

I use the 'flower' as a symbol of an ornament which is often represented in traditional embrodery ... using the 'ornaments' from sport courts to empasize that ORNAMENT is everywere present!

Both embrodery and sport is something that I personally dislike (for differrent reasons though). But I am fascinated how both sport and embrodery (craft) can be a hobby, but also a highly skilled profession - however the passion can be the same - but the approach very different.

Also I am curious to how the sport and art world have professionals who are 'superstars'... and the money that comes with this ... and the structure which makes it possible.

When you embroider you have time to think... no distraction... only time and hands working slowly... time is money... how ask the question: How do I make money as a professional artist?
