NILS STÆRK is a contemporary art gallery with an international profile based in Copenhagen. Today, the gallery represents both upcoming, mid-career, and established national and international artists working across various media and genres, united by a conceptual narrative exploring current societal values and conflicts in today’s globalized society. Since its inception, NILS STÆRK has fostered gl

obal collaborations, particularly within the Central and Latin-American art scene, as well as with global art institutions, biennales, and galleries, creating new projects and opportunities with its represented artists and placing their work in significant art collections. The gallery has since its inception participated in several international art fairs such as Art Basel, Art Basel Miami Beach, Arco, Art Brussels, FIAC and ZsonaMaco. Initially located in a small gallery in the warehouse district at Islands Brygge, followed by a large space at Carlsberg Copenhagen, the gallery relocated to a 500 m2 former car workshop in the Northwest part of Copenhagen in the spring of 2017. This location still bears the mark of a raw, industrial aesthetic, a stark contrast to the gallery’s minimalistic interior designed by Henning Larsen Architects. In 2024, the gallery expanded with a second space in Copenhagen's city center, responding to increased interest in exhibitions featuring its artists. Situated on a bustling high street, this space intertwines its shows with the vibrant city through large, street-facing windows.

"Untitled" (2026) by Tove Storch is currently on view at our booth, S22, at Art Basel.

The work originates from the idea of upscaling a piece of textile. Suspended within a transparent plexiglass box, fine threads stretch repeatedly between wooden supports, forming draping curves that yield to their own weight. The dense repetition of lines recalls weaving techniques and enlarged textile fibers.

As the threads fall into soft arcs between fixed points, the rigid framework appears unexpectedly fluid and delicate. The work transforms simple linear materials into a luminous, almost immaterial structure, where transparency, gravity, and rhythm create a sculptural drawing in space.

"Fragmented Star (Typographical) 09" (2023) by Carlos Amorales is currently on display at our booth S22 at Art Basel 2026.

Carlos Amorales is a multidisciplinary artist who explores the limits of language and translation systems to venture into the field of cultural experimentation. He uses graphic production as a tool to develop linguistic structures and alternative working models that allow new forms of interpretation and foster collectivity.

Carlos Amorales’ "Jungle Star" series consists of collages composed of painted cardboard cut-outs on linen. The works continue Amorales' investigation into abstraction, fragmentation, and visual language. The cut shapes echo typographic forms – familiar yet unreadable – suggesting a language stripped of semantic meaning. Through rhythm, colour, and spatial arrangement, Amorales proposes an alternative mode of communication rooted in intuition and visual perception. The series builds on earlier bodies of work in which collage and repetition function as tools for exploring the limits of language, meaning, and understanding.

Violeta Maya's recent work "Se fue de las manos lo justo y necesario" (2026) is part of our presentation at Art Basel 2026.

Expanding into multi-panel works and sculptural forms inspired by Japanese screen traditions, the artist introduces permeability and spatial interaction, reinforcing an ongoing interest in continuity, movement, and the blurring of distinctions between painting, object, and environment.

We are looking forward to welcome you at our booth S22.

"1.1.693 From the series: Possibilities of a Structure Subseries: Cosmos" (2025) by Eduardo Terazzas is part of this year's Art Basel Exclusive. Come by booth S22 to see it in person!

Eduardo Terrazas draws from a geometric language and a method inspired by the tablas of the Huichol, an Indigenous Mexican tribe. Using symmetrical structures as matrices for countless variations, Terrazas explores cosmic concepts, placing the earth at the center and the celestial dome at the periphery, while essential forces – gravitational, electromagnetic, and nuclear – compete for the space in between.

IN FOCUS

We are pleased to show works by Carlos Amorales as our next focus26 presentation in our gallery at Glentevej 49, Copenhagen.

Carlos Amorales is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the boundaries of language and systems of translation, using them as entry points into cultural experimentation. The artist investigates the processes of identity construction, continually re-signifying the visual forms that recur throughout his work. His practice often stages a dynamic confrontation between art and popular culture, generating tension and dialogue between the two.

Amorales' research-driven projects are rooted in an expansive repertoire of empirical methodologies, drawing on historical, cultural, and personal references. Working across a wide range of media – including drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, performance, installation, animation, sound art, film, writing, and other non-traditional formats – Amorales blurs disciplinary boundaries in pursuit of complex narratives and layered meaning.

Opening today and as part of the Climate Clock public art programme, SUPERFLEX presents "Super Kello", a site-specific sculpture created in dialogue with local fishermen and informed by collaborations with marine scientists.

Installed on the coast of Haukipudas, the work reflects on time, environmental change, and our relationship with the natural world, inviting visitors to pause and experience a slower rhythm.

IN FOCUS

We are pleased to show works by Lea Porsager as part of our next focus26 presentation in our gallery at Glentevej 49, Copenhagen.

Drawing on the intersections of science, politics, feminism, and esotericism, Lea Porsager’s work often translates complex physics into tactile thought-forms. With a distinct interest in energy – both physical and metaphysical – Porsager creates narratives that challenge binary thinking and linear conceptions of time, inviting viewers into fields of entangled meanings and relations.
