Thank you to Marta Djourina and everyone who joined us for the opening and made the evening such a vibrant beginning to the exhibition.

Bringing together almost a century of photographic experimentation, ENCHANTING COLOUR places works from the Collection De Gambs in dialogue with Marta Djourina’s contemporary camera-less practice.
Exploring colour as material, process and a way of transforming the photographic image.

The exhibition brings together works by Nobuyoshi Araki, Erwin Blumenfeld, Marta Djourina, Harold Edgerton, René Groebli, Sarah Moon, Norman Parkinson, and Thomas Ruff.

ENCHANTING COLOUR brings together works from the Collection De Gambs with the contemporary practice of Berlin-based artist Marta Djourina, placing nearly a century of photographic experimentation in direct dialogue.

Across the works of Nobuyoshi Araki, Erwin Blumenfeld, Harold Edgerton, René Groebli, Sarah Moon, Norman Parkinson and Thomas Ruff, techniques become way of questioning what a photograph can be.

The exhibition approaches colour not as an attribute of the photographic image, but as a material, process and means of transformation.

Djourina extends this inquiry into the present. Working without a camera, she exposes light directly onto analogue photographic paper. The resulting unique works occupy the space between photograph, object and experiment.

The exhibition therefore proposes less a chronology than a conversation across generations: different technologies, processes and understandings of colour meeting around a shared question of photographic possibility.

Join Marta Djourina and Mathilde Leroy for a closer reading of the works, the processes behind them, and the connections that emerge between the historical positions of the Collection De Gambs and Djourina’s contemporary practice.

Still feeling the energy of that night.

The opening of ORGANON was filled with movement, connection, curiosity and a little bit of sparkle, a moment when the exhibition truly came alive through the people who entered it.

Meet .schreyer , the performance artist behind THE DEEPENING.

Through immersiveness, voice, breath, movement and visceral moments , Julianna creates experience-art where the body becomes an instrument a place to listen, connect, explore and feel.

Her practice is rooted in the experience of sound and presence: what happens when we move beyond simply observing and allow ourselves to become part of what is happening around us.

For THE DEEPENING, Julianna has created and designed a performance workshop in response to .louan ORGANON. Her work brings the ideas of the exhibition into a physical, collective experience inviting participants to explore their inner networks while becoming part of the larger web surrounding them.

At CHAUSSEE 36, we believe in giving artists the freedom and space to expand their visions, cross disciplines and create experiences that exist beyond a single medium.

CHAUSSEE 36 Photography is pleased to announce ENCHANTING COLOUR
Collection De Gambs & Marta Djourina, a group exhibition exploring the creative possibilities of colour photography from the 1940s to the present day.

Bringing together works from the Collection De Gambs with the contemporary practice of Berlin-based artist Marta Djourina, the exhibition creates a dialogue across generations of photographic experimentation.

Featuring works by Nobuyoshi Araki, Erwin Blumenfeld, Marta Djourina, Harold Edgerton, René Groebli, Sarah Moon, Norman Parkinson, and Thomas Ruff, the exhibition traces the evolution of colour as an artistic medium, from hand-coloured prints and dye transfers to experimental darkroom processes and digital approaches.

At the heart of the exhibition is Marta Djourina’s camera-less photographic practice, in which light is transformed directly into colour. Her abstract compositions enter into dialogue with historical works from the Collection De Gambs, exploring photography’s capacity to manipulate, transform, and transcend reality.

Last Friday was an unforgettable experience as we celebrated the opening of the ORGANON Exhibition. It was a night filled with beauty, connection, and artistry that truly captured the essence of the body as a medium.

ORGANON, put together by .louan invites us to explore the invisible networks that bind us and reside within us. It serves as an altar of bodies and a love poem to our existence, our senses, and the feminine force in us all.

The exhibition is still ongoing, and we want to remind everyone that the next event, “The Deepening,” will take place on 6 September 2026. This 90-minute immersive experience, guided by .schreyer and sound designedby , will weave together breathwork, sound, body, and image.

Behind ORGANON: bringing an idea into being.

For Jaqueline Louan | Photography for Muses and Brands, ORGANON marks her first solo exhibition as a photographer. A deeply personal body of work brought to life not only through her images, but through the scenography, the frames, the spatial composition, the details, and the many hours of preparation that shaped the exhibition and the ORGANON live performance.

These moments behind the scenes reveal another side of the work: the concentration, the care, the physical effort, the adjustments, the decisions, and the patience it takes to translate an inner vision into a tangible space.

At CHAUSSEE 36 PHOTOGRAPHY, we believe an exhibition space should do more than hold an artwork.

It should give an artist room to expand.
To transform.
To experiment.
To perform.
To bring an idea into the world in its own language.

ORGANON is an invitation into Jacqueline’s world, a space where the body becomes a medium, where the visible meets the invisible, and where photography becomes part of something larger than the image itself.

We are grateful to witness the work behind the work, and to give space to an artist as she brings her vision into being.
