On Sunday we posted about the amazing Christmas lights in Los Angeles – but don’t worry, Berliners, we have recommendations for you to! It’s also (very) cold and (very) dark here, after all. Christmas Garden Berlin by Christmas Garden Deutschland at Botanischer Garten und Botanisches Museum Berlin is the perfect opportunity for an extended walk, with over 1 million lights turning the roughly two kilometer long pathway into a glittering fairy tale landscape. Na sequência dos importantes resultados obtidos no contexto do projeto “As Graphidaceae da coleção de A. Pires de Lima (1916-1917): valor botânico e histórico” financiado pelo SYNTHESYS e desenvolvido em colaboração com o Natural History Museum, London (NHM), a investigadora Silvana Munzi recebeu uma nova bolsa SYNTHESYS para, em parceria com o Botanischer Garten und Botanisches Museum Berlin (BGBM), dar continuidade ao estudo das coleções históricas de líquenes do Herbário do MHNC-UP (PO).
Estas coleções integram centenas de exemplares não identificados recolhidos desde 1852 em Angola, Moçambique e São Tomé e Príncipe. Durante os próximos oito meses, com a ajuda de Cristiana Vieira, curadora do Herbário do MHNC-UP, Silvana Munzi irá contribuir para a valorização das coleções de líquenes do PO, disponibilizando material para publicações científicas, tornando mais acessível à escala internacional um importante recurso histórico e avançando o conhecimento dos acerca dos líquenes tropicais.
Encouraged by the important findings resulting from the previous SYNTHESYS project “The Graphidaceae of the collection of A. Pires de Lima (1916-1917): botanical and historical value” developed in collaboration with the Natural History Museum, London (NHM), researcher Silvana Munzi has been awarded with another SYNTHESYS grant to continue studying the historical lichenological collections of the MHNC-UP’s Herbarium (PO), and to be carried out in partnership with the Botanischer Garten und Botanisches Museum Berlin (BGBM).
These collections comprise hundreds of unidentified specimens collected since 1852 in Angola, Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe. During the next 8 months, with the help of Cristiana Vieira, curator of the MHNC-UP’s Herbarium, Silvana Munzi will add value to the lichen collections at PO and provide material for publications, making more available on an international scale an important historical resource and advancing the knowledge of tropical lichens.
