February 28, 2026 marks the 68th anniversary of the final run of the Marpole–Steveston Line and the end of streetcars and Interurban trams in our community.

Starting in 1905, Interurbans in Richmond carried workers to canneries and farms, families into the city, and children to school and was a well-used mode of transportation connecting our communities.

On February 28, 1958, four specially decorated Interurban cars — 1208, 1207, 1231, and 1222 — made their last journey from Steveston to Vancouver.
