We’re looking for people who are interested in joining the Kingston Scout Museum at our community booth during Princess Street Promenade. The event is on Saturday, August 1st from 10-5 PM. We use this event to promote the museum and our history, so a knowledge on regional Scouting is a big plus!

Please send email to [email protected] for more information about volunteering with us for this event!

This past Saturday, the Kingston Scout Museum was at Princess Street Promenade! 🎉

As you can see from this picture, we got some pretty heavy rain that dampened the afternoon, but we still had a great day meeting locals and tourists alike to talk about Kingston’s Scouting history. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to see our artifacts and make some fun crafts!

Did you have a chance to enter our free raffle? It’s not too late! Visit us at the next Princess Street Promenade (August 1st) for a chance to win fun science kits! 🧪

Time for a refresh on rules and regulations! This passage comes from the Canadian Scout Handbook, published in 1968.

The passage reflects something that all Scouts, past and present, know: Scouting is a way of life, not just an afterschool activity. A good Scout carries a positive attitude into all aspects of their life and appreciates a clean lifestyle.

What handbook would you like to hear from next?

Welcome to Scout Saturdays! This week, we have a 1929 Scout Diary to share with you. This diary belonged to Jack Bell, who received it as a Christmas gift from his Scoutmaster, Francis L. Short, in 1928.

Jack Bell kept a brief account of his days in January and February of 1929, as shown in the second image. Although he didn’t keep a diary for long, Scout Diaries like this one had plenty of other information in the back pages to make it useful for years to come. The back pages are illustrated and contain information on recognizing poisonous plants, identifying animals, and more!

This artifact can be seen on display at until September 7th, 2026.
