Today, The Confluence unveiled a Site Concept Plan showcasing a new vision for the site’s future. The plan imagines a vibrant, welcoming place to gather, celebrate, learn, play and grow with designs informed by community.

With pathways, gardens, shade and wind breaks, the plan creates new ways to welcome visitors to explore the 42-acre site. New amenities, including a 16,000-capacity amphitheatre, pow wow arbour and chilled outdoor hockey rink, will attract more festivals, performances and sporting events than ever before — offering greater culture, safety, vitality and economic benefit to downtown’s east end.

The Confluence Site Concept Plan compliments the history, culture and lifestyle of the neighbourhoods it borders, while aligning with the broader development underway in the area, including East Village, The Culture + Entertainment District, Glenbow, Olympic Plaza Transformation, the Werklund Centre Transformation and Stephen Avenue.

Creating this plan was a collective effort led by O2 Planning & Design in collaboration with Hatlie Group and Reimagine Architects. The engagement process included hundreds of participants including Indigenous community members, community organizations, site visitors and Calgarians across the city. Thank you to everyone who participated in the engagement sessions and who supports the shared vision of this site.
