Parramatta Artists Studios

Parramatta Artists Studios The energetic home for creative production in the centre of Western Sydney. HOME AT PARRAMATTA - Stay connected and engaged with Parramatta.

The energetic home for creative production in the centre of Western Sydney, Parramatta Artists’ Studios (PAS) has supported hundreds of artists since opening in 2006. PAS provides a supportive studio environment for artists to develop their practices, whilst also connecting them with a community of peers and arts professionals. In 2019, PAS expanded to open an additional studio facility in Rydalme

re containing six warehousestyle studios. This new space focuses on engaging artists beyond an emerging career stage and re-engages with former PAS studio artists to contribute to career sustainability. From our studios in Parramatta and Rydalmere, artists make, connect and find inspiration in this fast-growing location. Through PAS’ creative programs, our artists engage with Parramatta and the wider community, contributing significantly to its vibrant culture.

As she bids farewell to Parramatta Artists Studios, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Nithya Nagarajan.

During her time at PAS, Nithya developed and led a wide range of programs including feedback, PAS Together, artist commissions and curatorial projects, and major partnerships across the Asia Pacific. She consistently facilitated artist-led spaces grounded in warmth and discernment – places where artists could share work, test ideas and build communities of practice over time. Nithya was also a champion of visiting curators and artists, connecting people across Western Sydney, interstate and internationally, and opening up conversations that extended far beyond the studio.

She brings vision and openness to everything she does – centring artists, listening closely, and advocating for the conditions that allow experimentation to thrive. Nithya has been a passionate advocate for access and inclusion at PAS, helping ensure our programs are welcoming, responsive and genuinely supportive of diverse artists and communities.

She also played a key role in building and sustaining strategic sector partnerships and creating new pathways and ambitious contexts for PAS artists.

Last year, Nithya was named one of eight recipients of the Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship. As she turns her focus toward her own practice, we hope this investment offers her the time and support she has so consistently created for others. She will be sorely missed, but the impact of her work at PAS will be felt for years to come.

Thank you, Nithya

PAS ended the year with a collaborative fabric-dyeing workshop, led by Kylie and Kursty Coleman – a grounding and communal way to celebrate a massive year, as well as the new friends we have found in Baramadagal Family Group.

Together we learned how to identify and utilise different plants and foods to hand-dye textiles. Thank you to Kylie and Kursty for extending this beautiful gesture to our team and studio artists!

PAS was proud to host the first Baba Jedda’s at our Granville studios, marking the launch of this series of First Nations–led LGBTQIA+ gatherings curated by Jedda Ruby Riley. Across the evening, community came together for performances, music, food and conversation, filling the studios with warmth, creativity and connection on Baramadagal Country.

We’re pleased to announce that Baba Jedda’s will return on Saturday February 21 for a special Mardi Gras 2026 edition. We hope to see you there!
