Even with the weather turning, the response to Matthew McVeigh’s exhibition opening last night was extraordinary, one of our biggest opening crowds ever !

I am very proud to be presenting this exhibition and grateful to everyone who came out to celebrate it with us. Thank you also to our generous sponsors as always and for their ongoing support.

Today feels like a good moment to acknowledge that 16 of the 27 artists represented by Kolbusz Space are women.

That matters, not as a token statistic, but because who gets shown, supported and backed over time still counts. I’m grateful to work with so many talented, intelligent women artists, and for how much I learn from the diversity of perspectives and practices they bring.

And of course thanks Mum x

Thrilling when recently in Melbourne to visit Aileen Corbett’s ceramic studio after hours, to see the work at its source and talk through new pieces for her upcoming exh at KS later this year.

Her studio is quiet and moody, you can smell the earth, the clay. Everything is fired in-house, built slowly through touch, patience, and a deep understanding of that firing process: the chemistry and the risk. The studio itself feels like part of the work, calm and focused.
