Third and final judge announcement for our Battle of the Bands is Noah Hill! Entries for the expression of interest close this Friday 29 May. Don't sleep on this.

Noah Hill is an Australian musician, songwriter, and bassist best known as a member of the electropop band Parcels. He grew up in Byron Bay, New South Wales, where he met his bandmates and began playing music in various groups from a young age.

In Parcels, Hill plays bass guitar and contributes vocals, helping shape the band’s distinctive blend of disco, funk, and indie pop. The group formed in 2014 and soon relocated to Berlin, where they developed their sound and gained international attention, particularly after collaborating with Daft Punk on the 2017 single “Overnight.”

As a songwriter, Hill has contributed to much of Parcels’ catalogue, with credits across dozens of tracks. Known for his melodic basslines and collaborative approach, he remains a key part of the band’s creative identity, both in the studio and on tour.

The new exhibition Merciful Navigation by Casey Chen presents and allegorical map of a fictional Song Dynasty in turmoil, drawing on the legacy of 'The Water Margin' and the enduring narratives of rebellion in Chinese history.

Blending historical cartography, folk stories, myths and pop-cultural references, Chen reinterprets these stories through a contemporary lens while using porcelain traditions.

View Casey's work in The Cube until 9 August.

Introducing the second judge for our inaugural Battle of the Bands: Melody Forghani!

Melody Forghani is a music and culture expert with a deep commitment to discovering, supporting, and amplifying artists from the ground up. She is the founder of 23 (twnty three), a global, independently run, artist management and publicity company now based in Sydney, New York and London. Representing a diverse roster of artists across management (Shady Nasty, Stella Bridie, These New South Whales, ASHWARYA, and more) and publicity (RAYE, Caroline Polachek, Little Simz, SPEED, Ninajirachi, Folk Bitch Trio, Dust, Mallrat, and more), she works closely with both emerging and established artists, helping them reach new audiences and build sustainable careers.

An experienced curator, programmer, publicist, and manager, Melody has worked across the music and cultural landscape to create opportunities for artists to share their stories on a larger stage beyond her work at 23. She has contributed to the development of the industry through her work on grant programs and taskforces for the Australia Council, Music Australia, and Create NSW and has previously served on the ARIA Emerging Leaders Board.

Expressions of interest for Battle of the Bands closes on Friday 29 May. Don't sleep on it. Check out our website for details.

We're excited to announce the first of our three judges for Battle of the Bands: Zepplin Hamilton!

Zeppelin Hamilton is a Wiradjuri artist, actor, model and teacher based on Gadigal Country, Sydney. Working across a range of disciplines, his music project Velvet Trip blends psych-rock, indie-pop and soulful groove with dreamlike production and deeply personal storytelling.

In 2025, he broke through with major festival appearances, national support slots and a sold-out Sydney Opera House show, alongside the release of the Glimmers EP. Its single “The Bends” became the highest-charting independent Australian release on Shazam at the time, with Zeppelin also emerging as the #1 most played artist on triple j Unearthed.

His 2026 album Glimmers Continued debuted at #5 on the ARIA Australian Album Chart and was named triple j’s Feature Album. Across music, screen and community, Zeppelin’s work continues to expand, grounded in culture, creativity and a distinctly First Nations perspective.

Expressions of interest are open for bands (aged 18-30) until May 29, check out our website to find out more!

The event will be on Friday 24 July.
