aMBUSH Gallery aMBUSH Gallery SYDNEY: 4A James Street, Waterloo NSW 2017 // Tel: 02 8399 0707 aMBUSH is an art gallery and social enterprise. But we do so much more.

Founded in 2007, we are at the forefront of curating arts and public space projects across metropolitan and regional Australia. We have a gallery in Waterloo in inner city Sydney, and previously at Central Park Mall, Sydney and Kambri at ANU, Canberra. We show local and international artists working with paint, photography, ink, clay, spray guns, video and other mediums. We believe in getting art

into every nook and cranny of the world. We support artists through our galleries and public commissions. We’ve worked with over 5000 artists to date and been been part of the launch of many careers. We champion thought-provoking, playful and diverse ideas. We often partner with community groups, government agencies, local councils, broadcasters and large companies to make all this happen. We moved beyond the walls of our Waterloo gallery in 2011, when we produced the groundbreaking Outpost Project on Cockatoo Island. It became the biggest street art festival in the world. Since then, aMBUSH has produced an eclectic body of work, collaborating with so many interesting people. aMBUSH Gallery Sydney

A bold new mural by acclaimed Australian artist Bastian Allfrey transforms Westfield North Lakes.

Known for his meticulous technique and ability to create deeply site-responsive works, Allfrey brings his signature style to this piece, drawing on native Australian flora to explore themes of growth, resilience, and interconnectedness. Featuring species such as Banksia, Wattle, and Bottlebrush, the artwork reflects both the surrounding landscape and the evolving identity of the North Lakes community.

With a practice grounded in craftsmanship, storytelling, and a strong connection to environment, Bastian’s work invites a moment of pause, encouraging viewers to reflect on their own relationship to place and the natural world.

Positioned within a key entryway of the centre, the mural introduces colour, depth, and narrative into the everyday experience, enhancing the journey through the space.

Curated and produced by aMBUSH Gallery in partnership with Scentre Group.

In celebration of NAIDOC Week, we partnered with Quay Quarter Sydney to deliver a meaningful placemaking activation featuring the work of NAIDOC Artist of the Year, A. Professor Wayne Quilliam.

Guests were invited to select one of Quilliam’s striking photographic artworks and have it screen printed onto a tote bag. The activation sparked conversations, connection, and reflection, a powerful reminder that placemaking is not just about transforming space, but about honouring the stories, people, and cultures that give those spaces life. A truly special moment at Quay Quarter.
