A motorbike enthusiast and a challenge: how do you protect injured knees without limiting movement?

Founded in 2007 by Geelong-born Geoff Maloney, POD Active (POD Active) developed an adaptive knee brace featuring a carbon frame and a “Human Motion” hinge designed to mirror the way our bodies move.

The result is a device that helps reduce injury risk while supporting freedom of movement.

Innovation isn’t just about new technology. It’s about helping people do what they love. At the museum, objects like this adaptive knee brace show how local innovation can have a lasting impact on lives, communities and industries around the world.

Before playlists and streaming, Cats fans showed their colours through vinyl records and cassette tapes.

From Come On The Cats (1980s) and the Geelong Cats Theme Song cassette (1985) to The Cats Team Songs (1964), these musical keepsakes captured the sounds of Geelong fandom across the decades.

Take a closer look at the covers, lyrics and artwork that helped bring the Cats spirit to life long before game-day playlists.

These items are part of the Bob Gartland Collection and feature in our GENERATIONS exhibition.

15 years on, and Cadel Evans’ Tour de France triumph still inspires 💛

As another Tour de France™ comes to a close, we’re celebrating an Australian cycling legend. This year marks 15 years since Cadel Evans made history, becoming the first and only Australian to win the Tour de France and inspiring generations of riders to dream big. 🚴‍♂️💛

Visitors to Geelong Sports Museum can see the actual yellow jersey presented to Evans on the Champs-Élysées following his historic 2011 Tour victory, alongside the unique BMC TeamMachine road bike he rode in his final professional race.

Both on loan from Cadel Evans.
