In “Young & Restless”, we are happy to present works by Philipp Renda whose practice grows out of an intense engagement with inner states and emotional experience.

Drawing and painting function for Renda as an immediate outlet: fast, sketch-like gestures condense fleeting emotional moments, often triggered by music, texts, encounters, or the pulse of current events. His works oscillate between abstraction and suggestion, between accumulation and dissolution, forming fragile visual constellations that remain open and permeable.
Installed as loose, evolving landscapes, a kind of “pile of thought”, his works invite viewers not to read them linearly, but to move through them intuitively, allowing personal emotions and projections to unfold.

As the year comes to a close, we would like to thank all artists, friends, and visitors for sharing this restless, inspiring time with us.

We wish you a peaceful Christmas, gentle moments of reflection, and a curious, creative start to the new year. 🎄✨

We are open on Monday 22.12 and Sunday 22.12, from 16:00–19:00. 🎄

A perfect moment to experience “Young and Restless” and spend time with the works of Donya Aalipour.

Her paintings are marked by a powerful, fully saturated use of color and an intense visual rhythm. Moving between reality and fiction, she explores the individual and the anecdotal within contemporary life.

Her works ask how a moment that lasts longer than an instant can be held onto. Through fragmented compositions, she creates a sense of temporal continuity—allowing emotions, relationships, and fleeting experiences to unfold across the pictorial space. The result is a body of work that feels intimate, vibrant, and deeply human.

Artworks: “Dancing Together”, “Rhynos Toward The Sea” and “Solving my Problems with Crying”

AG18 presents the showcase of HELLER & DIMMER lighting in the gallery’s “Spotlight.”

AG18 Gallery, Annagasse 18. 1010, Wien

Matthias Paul Hempt introduces a new body of work that reimagines lighting fixtures as aesthetic, technical, and conceptual objects. Combining traditional craftsmanship, technical precision, and a contemporary design language. Hempt develops sculptural luminaires under the Heller & Dimmer label, where architectural thinking meets a deliberate focus on the object itself. His works balance critical reflection with a subtle, humorous elevation of the functional form and a fascination for technical poetry.

✨Beáta Hechtová✨

“Young and Restless”

In her work, Beáta Hechtová explores the inner tensions of contemporary life, shaped by information overload, urban acceleration, and the persistent search for belonging. Through a multilayered practice that moves between painting, printmaking, collage, and installation, she translates psychological restlessness into dense visual worlds where personal fragments intersect with global developments.

The two works presented in Young and Restless condense these ideas into intimate yet complex compositions. Hidden identities, technological overlays, cultural crossovers, and diffuse future anxieties unfold quietly on the surface, inviting slow looking and reflection. What initially appears subtle gradually reveals a rich emotional and conceptual depth.

As the year comes to a close, Hechtová’s works offer more than visual pleasure. They are thoughtful objects to live with. Artworks that resonate with our shared present, they make meaningful and accessible gifts for those who value contemporary art that speaks both personally and collectively.

A considered gesture.
A lasting presence.

It was truly a pleasure to welcome .thm to our gallery. As a multidisciplinary artist based in Berlin, her practice compellingly intertwines untold histories with the complex entanglements of beauty and violence. Drawing from historical events, poetry, prose, and personal experiences, her process of layering, fragmenting, collecting, and reassembling offers powerful insights into memory, knowledge, and remembrance.

Her impressive exhibition history includes presentations at the Dakar Biennale, The African Biennale of Photography / Bamako Encounters, Goodman Gallery Johannesburg, and the African Diaspora Art Museum in Atlanta, alongside collaborations with Savvy Contemporary Berlin, Archive Sites/Books, and Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) Berlin.

Dior Thiam is also an acclaimed award-winning artist, having received the BBA Artist Prize 2023, the Schulz-Stübner Prize for Painting 2024, the 2024 ECOWAS Integration Prize, and most recently the STRABAG Art Award 2025, which accompanies her first institutional exhibition at STRABAG Art Vienna, open to the public from 14 November 2025.

We are grateful for her visit and look forward to future collaborations with great excitement.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the opening of “Bite Your Skin”, the latest exhibition by Arbi Jaballah at AG18 Spotlight.

Through his sensitive yet charged approach, Jaballah explores perceptions, encounters, and relationships — confronting us with how we see and are seen. His works draw from research, history, and empathy, dealing with what he calls outsiders, subcultures, and contradictions.
