Happy to announce our participation in the new ASTORIA ARTSHOW VIENNA!

On September 10, 2026 the Astoria Artshow - a new art event that combines an exhibition and a fair - opens its doors for the very first time. It takes place in the historic Astoria Garage, Europe’s oldest multi-story car park, where over 80 galleries from 20 countries join forces and show highlights from their program.

We are thrilled to be part of this unique project and will present Carola Dertnig’s video work *… a car …* (2010).
From Dertnig’s series *True Stories*, the performance video turns driving into a humorous spectacle of everyday life. Set in a multi-storey car park - like the Astoria Garage -, Dertnig plays with the cliché of the woman who is a poor driver, staging mishaps, accidents and absurd situations.

Through slapstick, a lyrical and absurd *car poem*, and allusions to the late performer Simone Forti, Dertnig connects everyday experiences with performance art while humorously questioning traditional gender roles surrounding women and cars.

The solo exhibition CONTAINMENT & DESIRE IN THE LEAKING BODY by Paul Prothesis (a pseudonym that functions as a necessary, provisional body) presents the artist’s personal experiences of caregiving and q***r self-care, working through, with, for, and against an injured and vulnerable masculinity. Inspiration derives from the care Prothesis has provided for his father since 1985, following a work-related accident.

OPENING September 10, 2026 at Crone Berlin: CLEMENS KRAUSS’ solo exhibition SEDIMENTS as part of Berlin Art Week.

The Berlin-based artist Clemens Krauss is known for his impasto paintings, in which he explores the relationship between the individual and the vast, broad masses. In his new series of works, SEDIMENTS, he now turns his attention for the first time to the material, the concrete and the object-like.

Two more weeks: Ashley Hans Scheirl’s solo exhibition PETROL M*OTHER at CRONE WIEN

The exhibition presents a new body of work consisting of three large-scale and fourteen small mixed media artworks on wood, four paper collages and eight acrylic paintings. Building on themes from her earlier artistic output, these works explore questions of individual identity within a technoid, capitalist, artificially intelligent universe.

Scheirl explains that she wanted to leave behind her long-standing practice of digital design. In the recent series, especially in the smaller formats, the compositions instead emerge “through the making,” that is, in a more direct, analog artistic process. The larger paintings, in turn, build upon these smaller ones, which serve as notes, preliminary drawings, and excerpts.

The method itself is also new. Prints of the illustrations taken from the Duden pictorial dictionary are glued onto wood. Scheirl emphasizes that this technique— contrary to expectations—allows for corrections, not only overpainting but also the removal of individual sections. The composition therefore remains mutable. Parts can be detached, shifted, or removed entirely. In this way, the manual process gains greater significance.

Currently on view at Crone Berlin: The groupshow EMPTY PLACES, CROWDED HEARTS, a cross-generational panorama of female artistic strategies with abstract or abstracting references.

Through the works of ten female artists – Hanne Darboven, Carola Dertnig, Hannah Sophie Dunkelberg, Judith Fegerl, Sylvie Fleury, Channa Horwitz, Sophie-Luise Passow, Charlotte Posenenske, Rosemarie Trockel, Ruscha Voormann – influential positions from the 1970s and 1980s are brought into dialogue with current trends.

The works on view by Channa Horwitz, Hanne Darboven, Charlotte Posenenske, Sylvie Fleury, and Rosemarie Trockel exemplify a conceptual engagement with structure through serial systems, time-based orders, and a critical reflection on cultural and material codes. Their practices have had a lasting impact on the understanding of structure as both an intellectual and a social principle.

Younger artists such as Ruscha Voormann, Hannah Sophie Dunkelberg, Sophie-Luise Passow, Judith Fegerl, and Carola Dertnig further develop these approaches, exploring surfaces, materials, and narrative constellations as open and fragile systems in which body, space, and image enter into dynamic relationships.

The exhibition thus brings together works from different generations who engage with fundamental questions of order, materiality, and perception. Serial and conceptual methodologies are given equal significance alongside corporeal and material-oriented processes as well as performative approaches.

STEFAN REITERER’s solo exhibition LEVEL at Bildraum Bodensee, Bregenz – on view till August 27, 2026

The exhibition title LEVEL refers to the measurable and perceptible difference in level within the premises of Bildraum Bodensee. The artist explores the architectural conditions through a linearly expanding series of painted 3D prints, which become increasingly distorted with each step in scale, thereby progressively distorting the view of Bregenz visible on them.

Stefan Reiterer (*1988) engages extensively with digital image-processing techniques and their ability to create, manipulate and translate spatial illusions into physical experiences. Alongside this, his artwork transforms scanned and digitally altered compositions – sometimes incorporating imagery from Google Earth – into illusionistic renderings that oscillate between clarity and distortion, stability and dislocation.

Double feature: Works by HUDA TAKRITI are currently on view in two major institutional exhibitions.

The first takes place at Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea in Turin, Italy, the second at the Biennale Matter of Art in Prague, Czech Republic.

Huda Takriti (b. 1990, Damascus) uses video and installation art to explore hidden histories within colonial and state archives. Her work analyses how systems of power define memory through a decolonial and feminist lens.

Takriti is participating in the fourth edition of the Biennale Matter of Art in Prague with her video work ON ANOTHER NOTE. Using and collaging her mother‘s and grandmother‘s photographs, stories, and cherished possessions, she reflects on the nature of familial memory and knowledge production as a women‘s practice. Her second work group REVISITATION. IN THREE ACTS. takes its starting point from Edward Said’s book Reflections on Exile and Other Essays and his conception of the personal essay.

For INSERZIONI at Castello di Rivoli in Turin, Takriti presents a project that critically investigates the influential role of images, cinema, cultural institutions, and industrial forces in shaping the complex narratives that emerged after World War II. Her intervention brings together the video CLARITY IS THE CLOSEST WOUND TO THE SUN (2023) along with new productions, which were developed through meticulous research conducted in various Italian archival collections.

Her new video IT IS ALWAYS MIDNIGHT IN THEIR MINDS (2026) explores the multifaceted relationship between the Ente Nazionale Idrocarburi (ENI), former European colonies–with a particular focus on Italian colonial history–and those societies still engaged in struggles for liberation during the 1950s and 1960s.

The exhibition at Castello di Rivoli is on view until August 23, 2026, the Biennale Matter of Art in Prague until September 13, 2026.
