Just opened in Paris - ๐๐ฐ๐ด๐ต๐ฐ๐ด, a new solo exhibition by Katya Muromtseva ๐ค
For ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ต๐ฉ ๐๐ฆ๐ณ๐ต๐ช๐ง๐ช๐ค๐ข๐ต๐ฆ, the exhibitionโs central work, Muromtseva developed a unique animation technique, filming shadow puppets against illuminated, rotating plastic cylinders hand-drawn with scenes from the narrative. Over two years, she produced 44 transparencies and hundreds of drawings.
The process is remarkable not only for its precision, but also for the ideas it carries. A shadow is the most visible trace a body can leave, an undeniable sign of presence. At the same time, the shadow puppets recall Platoโs allegory of the cave, which questions our ability to distinguish projection from reality.
