Cape Fear Museum Preserving the history, science and cultures of the Lower Cape Fear. A New Hanover County agency. Over the years, the Museum has grown and changed.

Cape Fear Museum of History and Science's founding collection dates to 1898. It began collecting confederate relics, and now collects images and artifacts that help us understand the history, science and cultures of the region and is the regional science center for school groups and families. Cape Fear Museum is a department of New Hanover County.

What an incredible turnout! Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the grand reopening of Cape Fear Museum. We welcomed 735 visitors from across the region, making it a day to remember. We're so grateful for the outpouring of support, and we hope you can feel the passion and dedication behind every detail that went into creating a museum Wilmington will be proud of for generations to come. 🎉🏛️
