Art City Studios

Art City Studios Monumental Artistry, Stone Sculptures & Monoliths, Stone Yard Paul Lindhard had a vision of a place where sculptors could work together and sell their art.

Thirty years in the making, Art City has evolved into a dynamic environment that allows artists to create in an artistically supportive atmosphere. Art City Studios is the culmination of that vision. Our resident sculptors combine with the finest selection of raw materials on the West Coast to provide a one-stop source for both carving stones and finished sculptures. Art City is the place where pr

ofessionals and students alike get the supplies and assistance they need. For raw materials, services or to commission a sculpture for your home or corporate setting, explore Art City first. Come see our selection of stone, as well as the completed works in our Micro Gallery Showroom. Meet directly with artists to discuss sculptures in stone, wood, or bronze.

'The Stone Totems' by Andy Lewis James Anderson Lewis

Monumental Kansas limestone sculptures inspired by Egyptian imagery and carved in the relief style of ancient Maya stonework. Ranging from 4 to 6 feet tall, each totem tells the story of a different political era through symbols, figures, and visual language designed to endure. A history carved in stone that could still be deciphered thousands of years from now.

See The Stone Totems at Art City, open Wednesday–Sunday, 10 AM–5 PM.

This nearly finished 8-foot tall Feather, carved from Baja Mexican onyx by Paul Lindhard, stands as a powerful monolith of movement and stillness.

Floating above an Egyptian Sandstone base, 'Feather' captures a quiet moment in flight, frozen in air.

Once complete, this piece will be available for sale.

"Paddlers" Cover Art for Brenda and Jon's upcoming book "Listening to the Light"

At once sacred and intimate, Brenda's work captures the natural world in the ancient ways of mystery and magic.

Her portraits (and self-portraits) rely on known objects and symbols to create a new realm, a subtle interpretation.

True to her Chumash heritage, she retrieves the world for us: the world we walked past at street level, the world we drove right by on our way somewhere in our human-scale automobiles, the insurmountable evidence we ignored.

As a visual artist, she fulfills several roles at once: healer, village elder, Tomol Paddler, poet and seer, to remind us what we have forgotten.
-Jon Obermeyer

Brenda Mercado and Jon Obermyer are collaborating on a book of her paintings and Jon's poetry based on his observations of Brenda's paintings. Artworks and words that represent nature and life within Chumash culture and the lands and waters they inhabited for thousands of years. Today the Chumash are recognized as the original people of this land, they are rebuilding the culture that was stolen trom them, creating a vibrant and thriving new future. Celebrate this with Brenda, Jon and our entire community.
