Happy Birthday Stephen Jones! 🎩✨
Born , the renowned and beloved milliner opened his first hat salon in 1980 in the basement of the store PX, the flagship store in London for New Romantic styles. Featured in the Culture Club video, “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?,” wearing a fez and a vintage zoot suit, Jones has said, “In a way, my life was more influenced by club life than fashion design.” Jones continues to attract a celebrity clientele that includes Rihanna, Dita von Teese, Mick Jagger, and Lady Gaga.

Thinking Through Tapestry is a juried exhibition featuring work that celebrates, explores, and builds upon specialized techniques often associated with tapestry. Thinking Through Tapestry invites artists to submit work exploring discontinuous weft-faced woven processes rooted in tapestry techniques, such as wedge weave, pulled tapestry, the use of hachures, or other structures, including the H.V. (Handarbetets Vänner) technique, also known as the Theo Moorman technique. The exhibition seeks to highlight work illustrating the close relationship between tapestry weaving*, drawing, painting, and sculpture. Experimentation and inclusion of additional materials (such as clay, steel, or wood) are encouraged and welcome; however, the majority of the submitted work must incorporate mostly handwoven work. Jurors: Emily Silver and Erin M. Riley

Opening: May 31, 2026 1-4 pm

Prominently showcased in the "Dior Gardens" installation is this Dior Haute Couture Spring/Summer 1955 dress by Christian Dior.

Balancing whimsically fresh and sophisticatedly feminine elements, Dior’s romantic approach to fabrics began to shape the identity of the luxury fashion house.

Take a stroll through the gardens in "Dior: Crafting Fashion," on view now through Aug. 23.
