Ever dreamed of seeing your work in a museum? Here’s your chance! We’re inviting fiber artists to stitch together a one-of-a-kind superbloom for Cal Academy’s new exhibit, opening this fall.

Every piece you send is also a chance to win a pair of tickets to the Academy! 🎟️

✂️ How to participate:
🌷 Make a knitted, crocheted, or felted flower, leaf, or pollinator (2 in. to1 ft. in size)
🐝 Send it in by November 11 to be considered for opening day
🌿 Pieces received through March 1, 2027 will be considered for inclusion after opening

Happy hatch day, Claude🐊.

31 years ago today, our big guy hatched in a Louisiana swamp with no idea he'd end up as one of San Francisco's most beloved animals. Eighteen of those years were spent right here at Cal Academy, where Claude was beloved by the millions of people who came to visit him at the museum or tuned in online to watch him napping serenely on his heated rock. Claude sadly passed away from cancer in December 2025.

We're missing our gentle giant today, but we are extra thankful that last year we got to throw him a Claude-sized party to ring in his 30th hatch day with all of you, his beloved fans. If you have any Claude memories, drop them in the comments🤍.

Something we can't stop thinking about: California is home to over 30% of all plant and vertebrate species in the U.S. Reason enough to celebrate, if you ask us. All September, we're honoring California biodiversity with bioblitzes, our brand-new planetarium film Timescapes, and an upcoming Nature Festival. However you choose to explore, we're just glad you're doing it with us in our favorite state ❤️.
