Our season at Transamerica Pyramid Center is soon coming to a close. Join us in celebrating the final weeks of ๐‘ป๐’‚๐’“๐’‚ ๐‘ซ๐’๐’๐’๐’—๐’‚๐’: ๐‘บ๐’•๐’“๐’‚๐’•๐’‚๐’ˆ๐’†๐’Ž๐’” and ๐‘ณ๐’Š๐’๐’š ๐‘ฒ๐’˜๐’๐’๐’ˆ: ๐‘ฌ๐‘จ๐‘น๐‘ป๐‘ฏ๐‘บ๐‘ฌ๐‘ฌ๐‘ซ ๐‘ซ๐‘ถ๐‘ด๐‘ฌ.

Here are three reasons to experience these remarkable, site-specific works in person.

1. STAND INSIDE A 3D PRINTED LANDSCAPE
โ€จ๐‘ณ๐’Š๐’๐’š ๐‘ฒ๐’˜๐’๐’๐’ˆ: ๐‘ฌ๐‘จ๐‘น๐‘ป๐‘ฏ๐‘บ๐‘ฌ๐‘ฌ๐‘ซ ๐‘ซ๐‘ถ๐‘ด๐‘ฌย transforms art, ecology, and technology into a large-scale environment you can move through. Ancient systems converge with 3D-printed fabrication to realize a space for gathering and connection amongst the redwoods.

Exhibition closes July 26

2. SEE THE ART SHIFT RIGHT BEFORE YOUR EYES
โ€จ๐‘ป๐’‚๐’“๐’‚ ๐‘ซ๐’๐’๐’๐’—๐’‚๐’: ๐‘บ๐’•๐’“๐’‚๐’•๐’‚๐’ˆ๐’†๐’Ž๐’” is experienced by everyone slightly differently. Installed in the glass gallery at Transamerica Pyramid Center, the site-specific works respond to natural light, so every experience is uniquely your own.

Tara Donovan Exhibition closes July 31

3. CELEBRATE ART FOR ALL, EVERYWHERE
โ€จThis season at Transamerica Pyramid Center reflects our commitment to accessibility, collaboration, and expanding how contemporary art is experienced. Our nomadic model debut with Lily Kwong and Tara Donovan was just the beginning, reaffirming our belief that art thrives through artists, communities, and place. Weโ€™re excited for whatโ€™s next!

Sometimes the best part of public art isnโ€™t just seeing it. Itโ€™s finding it. ๐Ÿ‘€

Tucked behind IRL tree branches is a serene vignette hidden within the bustle of downtown. Rupy C. Tutโ€™s ๐˜›๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜—๐˜ช๐˜ค๐˜ฏ๐˜ช๐˜ค ๐˜—๐˜ฐ๐˜ต๐˜ญ๐˜ถ๐˜ค๐˜ฌ offers viewers a shared meal nestled into a landscape of forests, mountains, and water.

Start with the bigger picture, then let your eyes wander. Can you find the blanket? The samosas? The thermos of chai? What other details reveal themselves the longer you look?

Carry Lily Scout Kwong EARTHSEED DOME beyond the park!

Before the exhibition closes later this July, take home a seed packet and become a human pollinator. Each planting extends the spirit of the work into new places, connecting communities through care, ecology, and participation.

See the exhibition before the process begins. Open daily, 10am to 5pm, at the Transamerica Pyramid Annex Gallery.

Did you know the redwoods are woven into the story of EARTHSEED DOME?

Inspired in part by Lily Kwongโ€™s early encounters with Californiaโ€™s redwoods, the installation invites visitors to consider our relationship to the complex, wise, and interdependent living systems that connect us. Situated within Transamerica Redwood Park, the dome enters into dialogue with the grove that surrounds it.

DJ mia moretti has created a playlist inspired by the installation and its setting. Listen among the trees, inside the dome, or wherever you find yourself seeking a moment of connection with the natural world.

Rarely does a work retain its power across such distinct mediums. ICA SF Founding Director & Chief Curator, Ali Gass, speaks to how in ๐˜›๐˜๐˜๐˜š ๐˜‰๐˜œ๐˜™๐˜•๐˜๐˜•๐˜Ž ๐˜ž๐˜–๐˜™๐˜“๐˜‹ (2026), Jeffrey Gibson preserves the cinematic scale and emotional resonance of the original video installation while reimagining it as a monumental public artwork.

Across our exhibitions and public projects this year, artists have invited us to see familiar materials, landscapes, and public spaces in new ways. To pause, look closer, reconnect with our surroundings, and gather with one another.

From reflections on innovation and obsolescence, to moments of rest amid the city, to the power of community and convening, contemporary art is not only about what we see, but how we experience this world together.

More than three years after its debut at ICA SF Dogpatch, Jeffrey Gibsonโ€™s ๐˜›๐˜๐˜๐˜š ๐˜‰๐˜œ๐˜™๐˜•๐˜๐˜•๐˜Ž ๐˜ž๐˜–๐˜™๐˜“๐˜‹ continues to resonate in its current large scale public art iteration in Downtown SF at Mission Street (former Bloomingdaleโ€™s) asking a timely question:

How might we care for the earth if we understood it as family, rather than a resource?
