Join Us for a Special Community Dance Event!

The Portuguese Historical Center and the Portuguese-American Dancers are teaming up to host a fun event to kick off preparations for our Festa do Espírito Santo week, happening June 1st–8th! Learn the traditional Festa dance, the chamarrita, during a special two night dance lesson open to all.
A $15 donation at the door is recommended (via cash or Venmo), with proceeds supporting both organizations. We can't wait to dance with you!

The Portuguese Historical Center would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who attended our recent Historical Symposium, “The History of Portuguese American Dancers in San Diego,” presented by PHC President Evelyn Barandian.

We were proud to welcome a wonderful audience and are deeply grateful for the generous donations that support our mission to preserve and celebrate Portuguese heritage in our community. Guests enjoyed a delicious array of food, engaging conversations, and an impressive display of archival materials that highlighted the rich traditions of Portuguese American dance.

Thank you for being a part of such a meaningful evening, and for helping us honor the cultural legacy that continues to shape our history.

Remember your loved one with pride and acknowledge their service and dedication to the industry with a paver. If you are interested in honoring those that gave, or those still giving, their livelihood to the tuna fishing industry please complete the application and questionnaire which can be found on our website.

Pavers are $150 and are located in front of the PHC surrounding the monument.
